Arrow Fury Road: Mad Max 4

Sorry if this has been posted:
Quote:
Mad Max 4: Fury Road Confirmed, Budget of $100 Million!

This is the weekend that Mad Max is making its return. Yesterday morning a rumor hit saying that Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy were director George Miller's top choices to star in Mad Max 4. Later in the day, THR published a story confirming that Mad Max 4, now officially titled Fury Road, was actually already ready to go into production in Sydney and in New South Wales next year. They did not confirm any of the actors, but did mention that the budget would be close to $100 million, despite having no studio funding or backing for the project. That is some impressive indie financing. Obviously the locals rule in Australia.

One of the local papers has a few quotes from Miller saying that Fury Road will put New South Wales back on the map as a filmmaking destination. "The Mad Max films are iconic," NSW Premier Rees said. "In the hands of director George Miller, we will see one of the largest and most ambitious live-action films ever made in Australia. This is a clear vote of confidence in Australian expertise. This proves that Sydney is an international contender for major film production." THR also points out that this Fury Road news comes "just 10 days after Warner Bros announced it was pulling production of Green Lantern out of Australia."

On the casting front, yet another rumor has hit. ABC News out of Australia claims that Sam Worthington is rumored to be playing the lead, not Tom Hardy. I actually like that choice more, just because Worthington is a badass and an Aussie himself. Plus, there's always the chance that both of them could end up being in Fury Road anyway, with Hardy playing a villain or sidekick. I'm excited to see this project get underway and I hope we get confirmed casting news soon, as I'm anxiously awaiting to see who George Miller has lined up in place of Mel Gibson, since he was the one who made the original movies so great. Stay tuned for more!

George Miller Shows Off The Cars of Mad Max 4 on Video

Quote:
George Miller has appeared on ABC News in Australia, showing off the cars he’s having built for Mad Max 4 and discussing his plans for the movie. This includes some hard facts on the casting. After a short sharp burst of rumours, it’s good to get some straight and low-down.

You can see the video embedded by clicking the link above.

Did you spot the painted backdrop hanging there at the start of the clip, the desert and sky? I’d guess they’ve been filming screentests with actors behind the wheel. I’ve got no idea what else it could be getting used for.

Even Miller doesn’t know who the final cast are yet, he says, and though he’s been casting very busily for six or seven weeks, he’s still got a great heap of actors to see. Who else might we want to see stepping up to audition?

I found it very interesting to hear him default to talking about Australian actors. Could he be hoping to net some homegrown stars? It would be great if he could - though, of course he was speaking to an Australian broadcaster and may have been exaggerating his concern on this front accordingly.

I’m a great fan of Hugh Jackman, as I’m sure you know, and really enjoy Geoffrey Rush and Cate Blanchett too. Not sure that I can see any of these guys in leading Mad Max roles, however. Less well known talent, however, might be tapped, so how about Emily Browning, Louis and Costas Mandylor maybe, or Peter Marshall from The Horseman? Chris Hemsworth is too busy with Thor, though, I’m sure. Who have I forgotten? Any experts on Oz actors out there?

Miller’s comments about the talent drain taking the best Australian actors and crew members overseas are maybe rather sad, but I’m encouraged by his enthusiasm in trying to create a need, and therefore employment.

At first I thought Tom Hardy was too much of a pretty boy to play Mad Max:

Then I saw these pictures:

It could work.

Any true Mad Max fan will boycott this movie if Mel Gibson is not returning.

Yes, cuz' we're all desperate to see someone in their 50's (53 now, 54 in January: Mel Columcille Gerard Gibson was born on January 3, 1956, in Peekskill, New York) trying to act like they're in their 20's or 30's...

Just a few days ago, we talked about a report E! Online had put out which stated that RocknRolla star Tom “Handsome Bob” Hardy and Charlize Theron were on the short list to star in George Miller’s 4th installment of the Mad Max series, Fury Road. E! Online didn’t have any solid confirmation regarding the rumors so the information was to be taken with a grain of salt.

Today we learn (thanks to a heads up from First Showing), that The Hollywood Reporter is confirming both Hardy and Theron have entered into negotiations to star in Fury Road, with Hardy filling in for Mel Gibson as the titular role of Max Rockatansky and Theron as the female lead (does that mean she’s the new Tina Turner?). At this point, unless something wonky happens, Hardy and Theron will be the ones we see come release time.

It’s taken almost 10 years to get Fury Road off the ground and at one point, Mel Gibson was set to reprise his role, but let’s be honest – this isn’t the Mel Gibson of yesteryear. That Mel has been gone for some time now and even though he looks great in the new Edge of Darkness trailer, it’s just been too long since he strapped on the leather, wielded the sawed-off shotgun and got behind the wheel of his kick-ass Interceptor to run down bad guys.

Another reason Gibson couldn’t be Max, the story takes place shortly after Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, which means even with a hefty helping of CGI reverse aging, Gibson couldn’t fit the part anymore. What I’m hoping doesn’t happen is for this movie to be ruined with CGI effects. For this movie to work, the effects absolutely must stay practical and stay away from CGI. Miller went on Australian’s ABC News the week to talk about his film, Australia’s film industry. Miller also shows us a car that may or may not be the prototype (thanks to AICN for the pointing this video out.) This means Miller won’t change the car, which is good to know because it’s as iconic a vehicle as The A-Team van or the General Lee.

Watch the video below:

There haven’t been any other details released regarding the story but I’m sure as we get closer to a shooting date that will change. Fury Road will begin shooting next summer and has a good chance of returning to the Australian deserts.

What do you think about Tom Hardy replacing Mel Gibson as Max in Fury Road? Can he do the role proud?

Mad Max Fury Road is tentatively slated for a 2011 release.

Will be cool to check it out when it comes out. I enjoyed the first three even as cheesy as they were.

This is true whether we are trying to fix the sprinklers in the yard or forming a business entity. Many people make a noble attempt to form their own limited liability companies these days, but then don't have any idea what to do with the business entity once they've done so.

The modern limited liability company is touted as a great business choice for many situations in the business world. While most people know what a "LLC" is, few grasp the nature of the internal documents that control it. The Operating Agreement is one such document.

Awesome, another rehash/revive/reboot/remake! Since "Hollywood" seems to be avoiding original content of any kind they may as well revive a franchise with one or two good movies in it. I have a feeling this will compare to the Road Warrior as Escape from L.A. compared to Escape from New York.
