i`ll be happier when the #s for blu are crushing and 3:1 or higher over hddvd i`ll keep buying and watching this winter is gonna be interesting

thats actually really interesting to see... so then how is it with all the studios and labels we have that hddvd is still even a competitor?

it's the adoption of the HD TV itself for J6P their just too expensive right now unless its 720p.. which is what Samsung,Sony,and Funai are doing at Walmart this Fall PUTTING OUT LOW COST 720p HDTV's in a reasonable cost for a 32-40" range that is what is IN my OPINION the real problem why the formats are slow for ADOPTION.which means at this rate Blu-Ray has nothing to worry about while HD DVD does. see J6P is evident the main target for the HD DVD market the low cost 1080i HD DVD player. BUT TO J6P without A HDTV its just another DVD player. worse yet HD DVD is viewed the same as the same as a upconverting DVD player

HD DVD in my OPINION is a product of its own low cost market share. BLU-RAY on the other hand has already established itself as a standard format outside of the MOVIE studio industry, for things like PC software, CAMCORDERS. and already with a number of blu-ray PC optical drive's on the market from more than a few CE companies makeing blu-ray optical drives for PC's its already being viewed as a viable back up data solution. while HD DVD has not realy focused on that. the longer this goes on and HD DVD support companies like MICROSOFT and TOSHIBA refuses to step into those markets THAT blu-ray IS ALREADY IN AND HAS FREE REIGN FOR HD MEDIA IN THOSE MARKETS BLU-RAY will continue to take any software advantage, and price advantage that HD DVD has left. its already starting. right now

They only have the UP5000 combo Blu-ray/HD-DVD player. It's been said on the boards somewhere that Samsung said this was a one-shot deal and that they would not be making any dedicated HD-DVD players. Others have said Samsung is only releasing the UP5000 to fulfill a contract with Toshiba.

At this point, Toshuba is so desperate, it would boast about outselling Blu-Ray in Rhode Island.
