Umm actually what I was saying is that no mater how many times we tell you you can't do 3D TV's without glasses for consumers.
It's just an endless circle!!!!
People say "Make the 3D TV's cheaper"
We say "To do that you need to have active shutter glasses"
People say "I don't want glasses"
We say "Okay then for 3D TV's without glasses you needa to get an extremely expensive TV"

I'd much rather see whole movies filmed with IMAX cameras then 3d.

I am again going to list reasons why a full length IMAX shot movie for hollywood will not work.
All sound and dialogue needs to have foley work and ADR done.
The camera's only film for 3 minutes and take 20 minutes to reload for the next shot.
It takes several weeks for the negatives to be processed and be able to see the dailies. Meaning you might have already flown across the world when you realise you need to fly all the way back to re-shoot a scene.
Because of the huge resolution the CGI work is a lot more expensive and time consuming. It even stopped ILM the biggest effects house in the world from completing the CGI for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

It's a lot more practical, effective and better to produce 3D movies and push the industry forward just like how colour film and surround sound did.

I went to the Christmas Carol train tour where they showed some scenes from the new movie. Wife and I were absolutely blown away by the 3D! If this is the type of 3D that can be delivered into the home then you can bet your sweet @ss I'll be buying into it at some point. The glasses used weren't the cheapo crap kind like what comes packaged with 3D movies now and they were also not even bothersome but comfortable like a pair of sunglasses.

i'm going to see A Christmas Carol this weekend
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1067106/

I agree the glasses that come with blu-ray are the pits and real-d ok
My point is when it comes down to 3dtv have the lens of the glasses built into the set that way the set becomes one big 3d eyeware possibly 3d-processor that overlaps left and right images

or some other means of 3d other then shutter glasses or anaglyph that causes such as migraines, dizziness, nausea, and motion sickness, long associated with inferior and expensive shutter glasses and substandard 3D technology.

Your screen is only a resolution of about 2K.

Do you realize 35 mm is around 4K?

IMAX is over 8K!

IMAX is overkill for TV material. Furthermore, everything that Mr. Vader already said.

On the flipside, traditional 70 mm isn't quite as large as IMAX, but it does offer much higher quality than 35 mm (which can even shine at the low resolution of our TV sets) and without making the filmmaking process needlessly impossible. There have been plenty of films shot and finished in 70 mm in the past, and rather than asking for something as unwieldy as a major film shot completely on IMAX film, it'd make a lot more sense to ask for Hollywood to return to 70 mm where possible.

now the way the 3deyesolution looks on its webpage is how hdtv should be without the glasses

[1080-p] it seems more like your advertising on this site then anything else. All you do is post links to companies that are making 3D TV's and don't even comment on anything. All you do is link.

I like 3-D in the theater, but at home I think it sucks becuase it's the crappy red/blue kind of 3-D that never works at home. How come it can't be like the digital 3-D of the theater?

It will be. In 2010 a new 3D BD standard will come out that will deliver a full color 3D experiance like the kind you get in the theater and deliver full 1080p to each eye. Only problem is it will require new players and televisions to get the full 3D effect. Anaglyph is the only form of 3D that works on all HDTVs.

Worse then that is a 3D tv that doesn't require glasses not only will be far more expensive but also would require a sweet spot viewing that is far to restrictive for television viewing. On a glasses free 3D TV only watching TV at a very specific place would yeild proper 3D results anywhere else would be a visual mess. Yeah wearing glasses for movies ain't great but its vastly better then the alternative. Someday cheap 3D tvs that offer the same experiance as active shutter without the use of glasses will be here but not anytime in the next decade. Its something our future kids might use

Thumbs up christmas carol

recently saw A Christmas Carol on saturday and liked it very much especially when the snow was coming down
I would consider getting it when it comes on blu-ray

I like the fact that 3d points things towards the camera
could you imagine pouring beer into a glass, or a snake attacking
it opens up a whole bunch of ideas

I agree with you, 3-D at home usually isn't all tha great. However, I did enjoy Journey to the Center of the Earth in 3-D. That was cool. But Polar Express really sucked in 3-D. Maybe in time, technology will improve home viewing of 3-D formated movies. We can only hope.

Its just another way for the people to spend money. Bringing back technology from the 80's is kind of crazy. They need to develop something that can get me my drinks when I'm watching a movie..

Why are blu-rays sold with 3D versions if no one has a 3D tv? I take it then we still see 3D when we wear the glasses on a non 3D tv? So why the need to introduce 3D tvs if our current tvs work anyway?
