Default How long have you been a gamer and how long will you still game?

Simple question. How long have you been a gamer and how long do you see yourself still playing video games?

No poll because polls are stupid.

Personally, I've been gaming since around 1986 or so. Now though, I'm starting to grow tired of it. I mean it's fun once in a while but I get bored of games quickly. I don't know what it is really.

I mean even hot new games like L4D2 and Uncharted 2 kind of bore me after a while.

So what are your thoughts?

Been a gamer since 1977. I can't remember the name of the unit, but it played pong(about 5-6 variations) and had a pistol for target shooting blocks on the TV screen. A year later I got an Atari 2600 and an Atari Stunt Cycle/Pong unit. Been hooked ever since.

I don't really see myself ever quitting, but like you the newer games lose their appeal pretty quick. I can still play a marathon game of Asteroids whenever I find a machine though.

I've been a gamer since I got my Atari 2600. I imagine I'll be gaming for a long time with my kids.

Around 14 years and I still play daily.

For me games just keep getting better which keeps me interested.

I used to hate gaming, would rather have gone outside and play some ball or something. But when I got my first HDTV, I needed something to play BD's on. So I've really only been a gamer since March 10, 2007 and haven't looked back.

And Kotse, I find it hard to believe that you've been a gamer since the tender age of 2...

So how do your kids like the 2600 games? Just asking because when I pull my 2600 out to play a few games of Missle Command or Demon Attack I wind up keeping it hooked up for a week or so and wind up playing a few games of all the classics. But when I hook up the SNES or Genesis, it's just a few games then back in the closet. Maybe it's just nostalgia for me, IDK.

Back when I was still married, my wife and I bought a Nintendo system and really got into the Super Mario games. It was a lot of fun. I wish I could get interested in them again, but I don't have the patience I think. Too many buttons to push and levers to pull and tilt motions and stuff. I must be getting old! LOL!

They're a wonderful form of entertainment though and the graphics sure are impressive on many of them.

I don't know, I don't have it anymore.

However, I do have a NES with around 300 games that I will show my kids when they get older. One is 3 years old and the others are 3 month old twins, so not much gaming yet.

I've been gaming for as long as I can remember. And I will be gaming until I get to that age where I do have a hard time remembering.

Since I got the 2600 way back when. I'll keep gaming for sure as long as there's stuff to interest me.

I started out with the Commodore 64 and Sinclair ZX Spectrum back in the early to mid 80's, and have been playing sporadically ever since. I'm not a hard core gamer by any stretch of the imagination.

Got an NES when I was 4, so about 20 years now.

Like mikejet, I find myself kind of getting tired of it. As a kid it seemed like there were fewer games, and it was easier to want to play all of them.

Now as I'm older I have less time for games, and less interest in playing everything that comes out. Even of the games that interest me, I only end up picking a couple to try out. I think I can count on a single hand the number of games released in the past year that I played (since Rock Band 2 and LBP are now over a year old, they don't count... otherwise it'd take two hands).

I can always see myself playing games though, but less often as I keep getting older. I really liked Uncharted 2, but I'm glad I rented it instead of buying it, because the multiplayer just doesn't really appeal to me anymore. There will always be people out there who are younger and/or play for an insane number of hours every week, and I don't enjoy feeling like I'm at a disadvantage playing against them.

Do you remember a game on the '64 that was like Risk? If I remember you put weapons, crops and ???(can't remember) on your territories to add to their defense. I ruled at that game. That and Bruce Lee.

Yeah Gamefly seems like the best option to me now since I don't really see a need to purchase games anymore. Most games I buy I end up selling anyway.

I'm trying to remember but I just can't. It's been too long. I mostly only remember images of the many games I played, but I have a hard time remembering their titles. Sorry bud.

I am 26 and have been gaming since I was about 6 back on the original NES. I have always loved games and have owned nearly every console throughout the years.

About two years ago I thought I was starting to lose some interest in gaming but I have regained my interest for it the last while.

I own an XBOX 360 and purchased Forza 3 last week and the game is flatout phenominal and has pumped me up for games. With Modern Warfare 2 just days away now it seems this is the perfect time to be a gamer. I don't plan on quiting gaming anytime soon.
