Why is it important that I know this information? If I don't like the volume level I'll turn my AVR up or down accordingly. Problem solved!

John

PS~ Great sticky BD, but I don't get it.
It is really not that important if you are willing to adjust the volume with the remote and realize that just because the level of one movie is louder, it does not mean that the codec that was used is superior. In view of the so many threads that we have had debating the merits of one codec over another one or the misunderstandings that people have had about Dialog Normalization, a little education doesn't hurt.

I won't call you stupid. You already have the Crazy title.

If you want your receiver/processor to report the dialnorm values, you must set the player's audio output to bitstream. Setting it to PCM will not work.

In the Denon receivers, this value is reported in the menu under Information, Audio Input Signal. For other receivers, please check the manual or the internal menu of the receiver.

Before I started This morning I did that . Set to Bitsteam(audiofile) , had the manual out & could not find anythng pertaining to Information or audio input signal .

I will try again this week & maybe figure it out !

I certainly agree with you wholeheartedly on a little education!

Thank you BD
