BUTTT. If it went spidey 4 comes out, then 3 weeks later its on all the on demand and streaming services, then 3 months later its on blu-ray, then they'd get me both times
Would you buy it though on Blu-ray right away if it came out that fast?

YES and thats where they could charge me a real premium I'd pay 30-100(only best movies) to get blu-rays that quick.

Or they could get me with the rental (maybe more then once, if it were to take another 3 months to get it on blu-ray) and then get me to buy it.

I'd do either of those.

I'd be willing to pay much more for the convenience and privacy of it all. + it would be much cheaper to spend 20-30 renting say spidey 4 at home and bringing a date over then 15+ a ticket there and 20+ for drinks and crap, then gas.

That's the other idea they mentioned that Hollywood needs to get on board with. Specializing to an audience.

Say for instance, you are interested in Spiderman 4. They offer a special Spiderman club for $20.

With the Spiderman club, you get to goto an early screening for the film 2 WEEKS before the actual release date. The screening is $20. Then, 3 weeks later you get a $5 coupon for the release of the film on Blu-ray but the Blu-ray costs $30.

Studio makes $65 from the person, minus other fees and stuff, but that's not bad.

If they changed the movie release model it would kill all theaters. Hardly anyone would go to the theater if they knew they could watch it at home a month later. Theaters would shut down in every town and the film's box office would drop greatly.

True, and then they'd have even less control over video taping, video cameras all that.

Interesting idea, but I would still wait to have the blu-ray in my hands.

Not interested to pay more just to get a movie earlier. I am not in that much of a hurry to see a movie, there is always something else to watch. I would not mind to wait 3 or 4 months more and get it just at a regular ordinary price

Oh I am sure a lot of people would go for it. Look in these thread the reaction of many who get their movies earlier then the release date, you would think that a miracle just happen for then

I am not that much in a hurry and specialy not paying more in order to get 2 months before everyone else.

Theaters are already dying though. I think the days of the multiplex are going to come to an end and theaters will have to cater to more unique viewing experiences.

Anyone think maybe it might not be a bad idea to reduce the numbers of movies being release each year? Most movies do cost a lot to make and by making too many of them their is only a limited amount of people that will go see them, specialy when you check how much it cost for a family of 4 to see a movie in theater.

Yeah it pisses me off that for my wife and I to watch a movie at IMAX at night it's over $30 bucks. That's just wrong. I could buy the Blu-ray for less. Plus that doesn't include food/drinks/parking.

If I goto the Arclight for a regular show, it's $14 per person. Plus $2 for parking. They have a bar there too so I would probably have a drink or two.

I don't think I care for this idea. I would not buy such a 'premium ticket' and I'm also not willing to pay more than about $20 for the blu-ray release, even if it is early. As long as I would still have the option at the theater to buy a regular ticked I would be OK if they did it though.
