It's not irrelavent to Blu-ray. US PS3s, don't play PAL content on Blu-ray or 50hz content on Blu-ray. Nor do Sony S350 players. If you don't believe me, ask in the insider's thread whether US PS3s or Sony S350 players can play 50hz/PAL content on Blu-ray.

Look at this list which says against some titles "Note this contains 50hz content so won't work on some US players" or something like that.

There are over 45 Blu-ray titles that have 50hz content on that won't play on a US PS3 or Sony player but will play on Samsung players and others.
