I have the Promedia's but if I were going to be looking at the speakers, I'd get the Swan's hands down. They are likely much better speakers anyways. That is a really good deal for that Swan set though.

I recommended the swans to my friend awhile back and he got them so Ive had a chance to listen to them quite a bit. They are very nice looking, the white paint is almost car like quality with metallic flakes and clear coat - NICE. The mid woofer box must be placed on the table near the listening position or else low frequencies get drowned out. Highs are a little on the harsh side but overall a VERY good deal for the money. Anyone looking for cheap computer speakers must look into these.

My point though while they are good, they are more suited for nearfield listening (computer desk) than a home theater application... plus I thought he needed a remote. If a remote is not needed a better sound quality choice would be the audioengine A2...AMAZING little speakers (got my sister to get them). They can FILL a room!

But still my first choice and recommendation (if you can) is get bookshelf stands for the PSB Alpha B1s so you wont have to sacrifice any sound quality for space concerns.

First go with a real 2.0 or 2.1 set up (PSB). If you must, go with the audioengines over the swans.

Also if you can stretch a bit, check out this package!!

I would recommend the Audioengine's over those Swans also - however - I looked at the Creative T-20's that the OP ref'd and they are pretty small. The Audioengine speakers are about the size of a regular bookshelf speaker. I would have recommened thoses, larger Swans, or a setup like the one you recommended but I wonder how important are the size limitations for the OP. If he can swing it - your offering is grand!

True, the Audioengine A5 is the size of a regular bookshelf speaker. The A2 however is TINY! Takes up less real estate and sound better than the swans. Incredible sound from 2.75 inch kevlar woofers and silk tweeters, they blew me away.

But to the OP, my recommendations

1) HSU Performance 1 package
2) PSB Alpha B1 and a $200 receiver (Harmon Kardon 3390 (2 ch) or Denon 1609 (5.1))
3) Audioengine A2
4) Swan M10
