Hi guys, OP here-

Basically here's how it works. And forgive me if you already know some of this.

Blu-Rays are coded for either Region A(US, Canada, Japan players), Region B (Europe) and C (other Asia, etc).

*Studios try to restrict access because of agreements, marketing, etc and thus will release a BD for a certain region A,B, or C.

*However, most BD's are actually "unlocked" (region free). The site I provided tells you which ones are "locked" (can't play it outside of a region, unless you have a region free BD player-some US models can be made so-see AVS and other forums). But the regular Region A US player cannot play Region B "locked" discs. Conversely, a Region B Player cannot play Region A discs.

This BOB Blu-Ray set, as well as many others will say "unlocked" which means you can play them on your US BD player, eventhough it was technically released for the UK (Region B).

So lets say you wanted to check if a BD from the UK is "locked"-visit blurayregioncodes.com and click "Region B". Scroll to the title and it will tell you.

Occasionally, the "extras" on a BD are encoded with PAL (UK format), and unless your US BD player can play PAL(not typical), you will not be able to play the extras. There are not many discs like that, in the grand scheme. The site is comprehensive, and whether you will be able to play extras encoded in PAL (SD not hi-def), will be noted in "notes" area. But if you can't find info on a certain title, check the AVSforum or BD Threads-someone is bound to be looking for the same info. Some BD players can be made to be region free (examples are Momitsu, some Curtis Mathes and LG BH200 (combo player now discontinued). The mod is usually just a simple remote hack, though there are sites that sell "modified players", at a hefty markup.

I hope this helps-please feel free to ask any questions. I have a few players that are region free (LG BH200) for BD and SD. But before that I always checked the site above, so I wouldn't end up with coasters (ha!).

G'Night!
DB
DigitalBAbe you are awesome. Thank you so much for the link and the info. I just placed an order from AmazonUK. $32.51 USD shipped.

Ordered. What a steal! This is even cheaper than that Barnes & Noble fiasco a couple months back.

With all of the sales going on these past weeks, who needs Black Friday? The early ads that have been posted haven't been that promising anyway.

Thanks a ton OP!

Yeah, I ordered!

Been wanting this since I began collecting Blu's and I don't foresee this being cheaper anywhere on Black Friday.

Does anyone know if the UK Band of Brothers comes in the same metal packaging as the US release?

Do extras play on a US PS3?
Or is it one of the PAL exceptions?

It comes in a tin, and I believe the discs are identical to the ones on the US release.

Hi gnn, please visit blurayregioncodes.com (click B for the UK), and scroll down to see the info on this set. If there is an issue with extras it will listed in "notes" next to the title. Thanks!

Damn they raised the price of Torchwood Series 1, I was wondering if there is any difference between the Uk version and the US version?

I just ordered Band of Brothers and it came out to £18.71.

Yes, the shipping rate is the same for Canada & US - £2.09 per delivery plus £.99 per item (for CD/DVD/Blu-ray). And with your price, what they're doing is removing VAT for the delivery outside the EU. In Europe, sales tax, aka Value Added Tax, is included in the item's price, and removed when the item is being shipped outside the EU.

I received mine in the mail today. The case was flawless and the disks play just fine. Well the first disk anyway. Happy with my purchase.

Yeah, I already bought it a couple of months or so ago, for like 25-30 Pounds or something...
Now it's just ridiculously low.
I mean, that's good of course, but even the top price or a bit later was much better.
It was like... I don't know, perhaps double on DVD when it first came out.
I remember seeing it in the store after having seen it on TV or something.
I so wanted to have that awesome big set with the cool case.
But it was like... around 100 Euros, unless it was still in Guilders...
Which is a big difference, but anyway...
And some people still complain the Blu-ray-format is too expensive. -_-

I also saw someone mention the 'The Matrix Trilogy',
which is indeed another ridiculous steal for like 5 Pounds a film. XD
That's like DVD-prices currently!
Just too bad they didn't release the full set like the US-version in the UK.
Which made me have to import it, cause I love those films, but... yeah, luckily they have sales sometimes.
