Can't believe how long this thread is, and how quickly the Kuro family is growing, AWESOME!!! I made the jump to the Pioneer Kuro 5020FD back in February and to this day I a blown away by its performance, even under natural light conditions (windows etc) the anti glare screen is amazing. That was my main concern during purchase time.

Anyways was wondering has anyone played around with the built in "Home Media Gallery" with the Ethernet hookup on the back. I have yet attempted this, but am iching to give it a go.

Since my Home-Theater setup is far away from my network PC (Router) I was going to grab one of these,

http://www.dlink.ca/products/?pid=533

and run a "bridge" type setup. to pickup my Router in the other room.

Then is it a simple as adding the PS3 or a laptop to the Network?

After that I should be able to stream Audio/Video/Picture Files on my Kuro correct?

If anyone has any info regarding this, please shed some light.....

Thanks again,
Love this forum....

Why not just get a wireless router? I have this one http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0014J07R2/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_2?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lp o-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B00007KDVI&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX 0DER&pf_rd_r=122V0Q4C28FW91XMFXXX and it works well. I have yet to have a broken signal with this model after going through several other wireless routers with the antennas that have to be pointed just right. This router I have now stays blocked most of the time with boxes and and a few walls between my wifi equipment (bluray player/ps3,laptop) and works pefectly. We have streamed a few netflix movies and never have had a problem.

Just thought I'd throw that out there since it costs less than half the price of the dlink powerline.

Im wanting to do the 150hour D-nice suggested breakin period for the krp500m. Is the 150 hour recommended burn-in settings required CONTINUOUSLY without powering off the tv, or can it turned off periodically? Thanks

It's recommended non stop, however not everyone can have their plasma running 24 hours a day for almost 6 1/2 days straight. People will run the break in images while they are home to make sure that the set and DVD are functioning properly, which is totally understandable, and shut the set off when they are not around to monitor it.

I broke in my set non stop because 150 hours is a long, long time when you have a new toy!

I highly doubt you'll be hurting the set by shutting it off before the 150 hour mark. I'd suggest you get some second opinions on the matter, but that's my thought process on it.

There she is. I paid about $1800 when it was all said and done for this TV, and it was money well spent. Just watched some Star Trek on it, and . The biggest improvement from what I had to this would be no more color banding. That is something that I don't miss at all. When watching wide screen movies, the black bars disappear into darkness of the room - love that.

TV is not without its cons though. There is a buzzing, which isn't very loud, but when you go from menu to menu or there is complete silence, you hear it. Seems loudest when the PS3 doesn't give the TV a signal (when pressing play on a movie. and it loads for a second). The other strike against it would be how finger prints LOVE this TV, lol.

All in all, worth every penny and a very happy KURO owner!

congratulations! nice setup also.

If the buzzing is really loud maby you should try and get another one. but if its low then thats normal on some sets. mine buzzes to, but i have to be real close to the tv to hear it. im guessing its a normal tv buzz. though some people have gotten kuros with no buzz at all.

Nah, buzzing isn't near as loud to warrant me getting a new/better one. I think it's just the normal buzz, but it's there. My old TV had a fan that was audible and didn't bug me, however the plasma buzz is at a higher frequency and it is a tad bit more annoying. I only complain because it's the only thing to complain about, lol. Excellent TV.

Drew, awesome setup man! I love mine too. It seems as if mine has a higher frequency buzz too. It could just be me, after working in a steel shop for years, the 'ol ears have a slight ring to them...guess that's why I can tolerate a Klipsch speaker too...haha j/k.

Is it just me or do these Pioneers ever get IR? I have left PS3 games on pause, left menu bars open and everything and not a hint of IR what so ever. I haven't exactly left these screens on for hours or anything but a good 15-20 minutes here and there. It's not like I'm trying to make it appear but I have noticed it on my old panny and a few other folk's plasmas after just a few minutes. Could they be this resistant to IR or the dreadful burn-in?

Pioneer brief plasma screen pricing update

On Monday of this week I stopped into my local Best Buy store. They were completely out of stock on all models of Pioneer plasma screens including floor models accept for the PRO-141FD and PRO-151FD. My local Best Buy store and other Best Buy stores nationwide have the standard Elite PRO-151FD that normally lists for $6,500 for only $3,999.98. The PRO-151FD model is ideal for the average consumer since it comes with speakers, stand, and built in TV tuners. $3,999.98 is a bargain on the PRO-151FD and is the lowest retail price I have seen.

The top of the line Elite Signature series PRO-141FD normally lists for $7,000 but my local Best Buy had them in stock at a clearance price of only $4,499.98. Plus $399.98 for the stand. The PRO-141FD with the table top stand costs $900 more then PRO-151FD. The PRO-141FD has worldwide signal support (including PAL and SECAM), ultra thin at 2.5 inches, and has handpicked and inspected parts for the best possible quality. The PRO-141FD is not for the average consumer since it is a monitor only with no audio circuit board or speakers (Requires Surround sound system or soundbar). Also no tuners built in and no table top stand included.

The only Pioneer plasma models listed on Best Buy's website is the PRO-151FD and PDP-6020FD now.

On a side note: Best Buy has now moved the discontinued Pioneer PRO-141FD and PRO-151FD displays from the main entrance to the Magnolia room. The PRO-141FD use to be the main display at the entrance to the Magnolia section. Now Best Buy has the Samsung UN55B8500 as the main attraction. The Samsung UN55B8500 is not as good as the Pioneer, but the picture quality on the Samsung UN55B8500 is better then all other plasmas in the area of deep blacks (accept the Pioneer). If one can not find a Pioneer one should take a closer look at the Samsung UN55B8500 with the Local Dimming LED backlighting. At only 1.6 inches thick it is a great display in both picture quality and thickness. Click the following link for more info on the Samsung UN55B8500.

Pioneer Table Top stands are on sale at a super clearance price

Pioneer table top stands for all the 50 inch and 60 inch 2008 monitors were always sold at list price when buying directly from the Pioneer website, and it was very rare to find a retail store or mail order company offering a discount or sale on 2008 Pioneer table top stands. In fact for a few months in early summer 2009 the table top stands were hard to find and out of stock from Pioneer parts department and some mail order dealers.

Some people were upset that the table top stands were not being discounted at all when the monitors were being sold at around half price from mail order companies.

Now for the very first time Pioneer parts department is selling the table top stand for the 50 inch and 60 inch 2008 Pioneer monitors at slightly more then 50% off the list price.

1. The KRP-TS01 Table Top Stand is designed for the PRO-141FD and KRP-600M. The stand normally costs $400 from Pioneer. Clearance price only $199.00

2. The KRP-TS02 Table Top Stand is designed for the PRO-101FD and KRP-500M. The stand normally costs $200 from Pioneer. Clearance price only $99.00

The 5020, right? I remember it back when I first got mine I thought it would drive me crazy - but here, ten months later, it's still barely noticeable to me. I don't even pay it any attention anymore. So glad I own a Kuro and started this thread - I still remember that day. It was a Thursday, Feb 18 - they came at 8:30 a.m.

KRP 500M, actually (awesome price on it)

Yeah, there are times when I will never notice it and other times I tend to focus on it. Currently waiting on my Blu's to come in via Black Friday. I'm thinking a 3-4 day Bluathon binge.

Too bad they are selling the speakers at clearance prices. I'd like to pick up the optional speakers for my 500M, but I'll wait until the prices become a little more reasonable.
