Question Is my BD-ROM drive causing iTunes to do this?

This hasn't happened before. I tried reinstalling the latest iTunes. It says the CD DLL is not available when I view the about menu. Could this be because I replaced my DVD drive with a BD-ROM/DVD-RW/CD-RW drive?

Is anyone else using iTunes and a BD-ROM drive (and doesn't have a secondary optical drive)? Are you getting this or is your iTunes working just fine?

It was OEM so didn't have a disk, I'm pritty sure I downloaded and installed drivers from the manufacture's website, I usualy do keep my drivers up to date. I'll go check that now thanks for the suggestion.....

EDIT: okay I looked but I can't seem to find the driver. I must have just used whatever Windows picked up. Here's the official website for my drive:

http://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/products...2BK/index.html

Can anyone see a driver link? The support page only has software for BDP-LX70 which is a standalone player, and DVD-RW drives which don't include BD.

OEM? did you buy it barebones? or did it come installed with your computer? if it's OEM it should have at least come with some kind of driver disc... if not, check your manufacturer's website, might have to flash it. the error message, however, looks to be an itunes message... so something got corrupted or something when installing it.

My PC is custom built, I bought the drive seperately, it just came on it's own, no disks. If it did then i've forgotton because at the time I got couple of other components at the same time.. but I'm pritty sure it was just the dive on it's own. It shows up correctly in Device Manager, so I asume the driver I have is from Microsoft Update, but come to think of it I can't recall because I was installing multipul components at the time.

EDIT: yeh that is bugging me, now where the heck DID i get that driver from? That's a little bit of a mystery. Curse my 2 second memory. :P

EDIT2: What the heck.. I can't even find an e-mail address to contact Pioneer.

It is sold with a copy of Nero. Should have the driver on the Nero installer disk according to my vendor.

Did you go into the preferences for iTunes and change your default burner drive settings?

I bought the OEM drive on it's own, no driver disk, no bundeled software, no Nero. You'll be thinking of the Retail version.

Here's what it says:

first, could you make sure if your disc drive can actually boot. I see you are using vista. Try to boot the computer using vista or any bootable CD/DVD. if it works, then the problem is with windows/driver. but if it does not work, then the problem is with connection/motherboard. My computer is currently unable to recognise DVD drive and I can't repair it, because it must involve changing motherboard. It DOES respond when I push the eject button (it get electricity, but does not operate)

I can boot from DVD and Windows regognises my drive, and reads CDs/DVDs/BDs. Also I just tried ripping a song using Winamp which I haddn't thought of before. It worked just fine, so it must be something iTunes related.

I still haven't solved the mystery of where I got the driver from though, must have been M$ Update.

if you don't mind, try reinstalling windows.... I seems to run out of idea. I used to have the same problem with ISO maker. It told me to get MSASPI32.dll or something like that.... after that, it worked

I'll just leave it for now, it's only iTunes. My drive is working just fine, if I reinstall Windows who knows, maybe I won't be able to find any driver and I'll stop being able to play Blu-rays. I'll wait until something more serious than iTunes ripping breaks before i reinstall.

My guess is the updated iTunes barfs on Vista 64-bit. I have had the same problem with the last few updates. There is also no support for the iPhone drivers with 64-bit Windows anything.

Did I guess right? I bought a macbook pro. . .

You don't need a driver for your drive since its not an add-on card that needs drivers. As far as that problem I have seen it at home once and at clients house about 2-3 times. I think what I did to fix it was uninstall Itunes then reinstall it with the latest version. It should work after that point. If not I would try to clean up your registry for anything apple related after you;ve uninstalled Itunes and then you should have no problem, hope this helps you.

Yeah I'm on Vista 64-bit. I think you must be right, the way to fix it would be to install an old version of iTunes or wait until Apple updates their software to be compatable for Microsoft enthusiasts.

Where can I find an old version of iTunes?

I wouldn't expect Apple to update iTunes with 64-bit support for quite a while. Maybe we can get Microsoft to pony up $150 million get them working on it.

From the looks of it you got iTunes working ....but since you're using 64bit Windows you need the 64bit Gear driver (iTunes comes with the 32bit version to burn discs). You can get it off their website here. It's the one next to AMD64. Why they don't just include the damn thing in the installer is beyond me. BTW I'm running xp Pro x64 and use this driver. Hope this helps.
