Does anybody know if all versions of the Transformers bluray (the first movie, not RotF) come with the rebate coupon inside the case, even if there is no rebate sticker on the outside?
Or do only copies with a sticker telling you about the rebate have the rebate forms enclosed? My copy came with a slipcase and did not have any sticker saying anything about a rebate on the outside. I bought it at Best Buy LAST Black Friday and, believe it or not, I still haven't gotten around to watching or even opening it yet! ![]() It's still in the shrink wrap; hence, I don't know if my copy has the form inside or not. I only recently realized there was a rebate for this movie because while I was researching all the UP promos last week I came across a thread in the hot deals forum that indicated this movie has a rebate offer that is expiring at the end of this December. I am assuming the form is in my copy but the main reason I ask is because I was just at BB to pick up a copy of the John Adams series that is currently on sale there and to get a duplicate receipt for Transformers for the rebate (since my year old copy of the receipt was half faded) and I noticed that the version of Transformers that BB sells now has no slipcover but it DOES have a little sticker saying there is a rebate with details inside. Now that I also have RotF I am getting ready to watch them together over Thanksgiving but before I open up the shrink wrap on the Transformers 1 I just want to make sure the rebate coupon will be inside. I figure that if there is a good chance that my copy of Transformers will not have the rebate since it lacks the sticker, I could bring it into BB and see if they would be willing to let me swap it out for one of the copies they currently copy since mine is still in the shrink wrap with BB price tag and I still have the receipt. Sorry to bring up such an old question, but I didn't realize there was a rebate on this title until recently and with the rebate still good until the end of next month I'd like to use it if I can since I also have the DVD (Target transforming version). Thanks. |

Rats, that's what I was afraid of!
Seriously, though, thank you steve_dave, that is exactly the type of info that I was looking for (although obviously I was hoping for a different answer). ![]() If no one else has had any contrary experience or knowledge regarding the sticker vs. enclosed rebate form (anyone, anyone...?), then my follow up question to anyone who might know is: Can you call/contact Paramount and request that a rebate form be mailed to you? And, if so, does anybody have the contact number or info? I tried looking for a number on the Paramount site but couldn't find one. I have read on other threads that people could do this with other studios (I think Buena Vista was an example) if their blu-ray didn't come with a coupon. I would think I would still be eligible for the rebate even if mine doesn't have the sticker since the rebate was announced in August or September of 2008, I think, well in advance of when I purchased and the promo didn't seem to be restricted to certain versions. If it's not possible to get a rebate form mailed to me, then I guess I can see if BB will allow me to swap copies. And if that doesn't work, well, I only paid $9.99 on BF anyway, so that not a big deal, although if I can take part in the rebate I would like to. Thanks again, all. |

Hi, KennedyZL,
There are a number of titles that offer rebates (usually $10) to people who already have the DVD version and are upgrading to the blu-ray version. To claim the rebates you usually have to submit (1) an original rebate coupon that comes with either the DVD or the blu-ray version, depending on the title, (2) the UPC codes or some proof of purchase from both the DVD and blu-ray cases, and (3) a copy of the receipt. There is a list of titles that have such rebates on this thread by Qwiksand in the Hot Deals forum: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=117105 Some have expired, others are still good. My post was in regard to the original Transformers movie (not the 2nd one, RotF). Apparently that one did have a $10 rebate for people who upgraded, but my copy didn't come with a sticker indicating there was a rebate inside so I didn't know about it until I recently read the thread I linked to above and saw it on the list. Another member, jdmac26, was kind enough to send me the rebate coupon that came with his blu-ray copy so that I could claim the rebate (I have both the blu-ray and DVD versions of the movie). |

Mine had the rebate
I bought my copy on black Friday at Walmart with no sticker on the front, and it DID have the rebate inside. The rebate applies to those with the HDDVD also, which is the case for me. I only paid $10 for Transformers and Braveheart and I get the $10 rebate for both, so I'm getting them for free except for the tax I paid. |
