To upgrade firmware or not to upgrade firmware, that is the question...

But I just had a look at the release note for the latest firmware and one of the things it says is: "Improved precision for color space conversion." And while I don't even know what that means, I'm all for making improvements to my player.

But the "if it ain't broke" mantra keeps playing in my head... hence this thread.

So, what do you do?

I have the Oppo and I do upgrade when it's available. I haven't had any problems with playing any type of disc or problems after upgrading but I think (and have been told by experts) that you should keep up to date because blu-rays are always being tinkered with and sooner or later things will change, maybe not this year or next but they will change, even if it is something small, and it's quite possible that something won't play on your Oppo because of not upgrading. What's nice about Oppo is that their firmware upgrades are total, you can install the latest ( I think it's 0925) and it contain everything that needs to be upgraded on the player. No need to go back and do the one at a time. I just downloaded the firmware, burned it to a disc and it installed no problems.
