Don't know yet, the guy doing this is only coming in next week. The only thing I know so far is that it's 14 AWG and certified for in wall installation. With my HT room being 20' in length, I don't foresee any problems with the 14 AWG.

Weird, sorry you had that experience with them. Obviously I would have went somewhere else too if that happened to me. Have fun hooking up your new cables, I've always thought cable hookup was the best part of buying new gear.(aside from sitting down and enjoying a great movie on that gear! )

I do not see any benefit of using better cables if you are running something else through the wall. I do not think that that makes much sense and the best that you will get for performance will be the weakest link; in addition, the cables my not "play" well together. If you were running them through the wall (if they are designed for this) or running them on the floor, then that purchase makes sense.

I never said I was doing this for better sound quality but I will talk to the guy to see what's available in the cable quality he carries.(I presume that's what you meant). Thanks for the heads up and could you recommend good in wall cables.

It's like when someones buys a car and takes the extra chrome option or the fog lights, the car looks nicer to him but it doesn't ride any better.

I just want it to look cleaner.

Hi,

Sorry, I am not familiar with in wall cabling. I will defer to others on that question.

But, again though the better looking cables that you have ordered may not work as well as something else that the installer offers with the in wall cables is something to consider.

Rich

I just purchased a Calabrine speaker cable for my center channel (Definitive Technology CLR2300). I can't wait to get it and hook it up.

The reason I do believe that a cable has an influence on sound is because I have a Mogami Guitar Cable (about $50) that I use between a PRS and Fender Tube Amp. I love the way it sounds, it's very clear and accurate on the highs, lows and mids. Recently, Elixir sent me their new guitar cable (worth $85) and I figured it would be similar in sound. However, it was extremely bright and lost all the mid and low tone. I feel like analog cables do make a difference in sound quality.

Also, I don't really like the way my current cables mount to the banana plugs. It seems like I'm losing strands when hooking it up. Having a prebuilt cable should make sure I'm getting the most from my speaker (and it's not really too expensive).

I just bought a Calabrine speaker cable for my center channel too (1 meter single cable). It shipped fast (just a few days since my order).

It took me a minute to figure out how to plug it in (banana to banana). The threaded collar was in the closed position. I quickly figured out that I needed to loosen it up insert and then tighten it back up. Duh

I've only spent a few minutes listening with it and so can't report yet on any sound difference. (It's replacing a typical length of copper wire with clear insulation from a spool).

It's extremely well designed for looks and feel. It's heavy and should be on display as much as be functional

I'll buy a pair for my fronts when I can.

- Scott
