Default Best Directorial Feature Film Debut

I saw Moon last night and this inspired me to start this thread.
What in your opinion is the best directorial feature film debut?
And please include your honorable mentions too.
All IMDb links:

Richard Kelly's Donnie Darko
For the time being, this is in my opinion the best debut, maybe I'll change my mind later on, but this is definitely a good one.

"Honorable mentions"
George Lucas' THX 1138
I'm very impressed by this movie, it's amazing how much Lucas has achieved with very little. I almost feel like this should take the spot for best debut.

Duncan Jones' Moon
This is partly inspired by my 2 favourite movies ever, Blade Runner and 2001: A Space Odyssey. Fantastic job on this movie. Although it can be "drowned" by its own hype.

George Clooney's Confessions of a Dangerous Mind
If you haven't seen it, rent it. This has also Sam Rockwell in the lead.

Hitoshi Matsumoto's Big Man Japan
This movie deserves a bigger fan base, very funny and unique.

David Fincher's Alien³
The Assembly Cut is reported to be closer to David's original vision, this gets too much bad critisism in my opinion.

I probably forgot some movies, but this is my list for the time being.
List yours.

I assume you're talking about the best directorial debut that has any sort of budget, so I'd add Christopher Nolan to the list for Memento.

I agree on Richard Kelly and Donnie Darko. That was a great film. I don't know what happened to Kelly. He makes such a good debut and follows it up with the horrible Southland Tales and The Box, which I haven't seen but is among the worst reviewed films of the year by both critics and viewers.

Todd Solondz' Welcome to the Dollhouse!! And he's only gotten steadily better. One of the few filmmakers that still to this day hasn't faltered since his inception, each movie building upon and adding new themes. wonderful stuff

Budget is not a factor, if it is a feature film around + 85 min. or so...
I agree it's a grey area to what is defined as a feature film. so I don't know.
Any suggestions? Memento is a good one! But Nolan's first is Following, 69 min running time, so what is that?
A prolonged short film?

I really want to see The Box...

"Easy Rider", was Dennis Hopper's directorial debut, plus he played one of the leads in the film to boot! While on the subject of Dennis Hopper, he was in Jan De Bont's directoral debut, "Speed". Sad to hear Mr. Hopper has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, he is now undergoing treatment.

Yeah, wondered when that was gonna be mentioned. Hard to argue with Kane. Pretty ridiculous really.

100% agree with Moe...Ben Affleck did a phenomenal job with this movie. Methinks he needs to direct more than act
