I already have all 3 pirates movies (got each for ~$17 from FS -PMing FTW!) so I won't be getting the steelbooks. Also, the last 2 look ugly IMO.

It is pointless to have parts 2 / 3 if you miss out on the first steelbook of this trilogy. Why not just release them all together rather than seperately?

They should've done this one as a complete set, or even a (*gasp*) Jumbo with all the movies inside. Or maybe something like a jumbo that doesn't suck like the current jumbo.

I disagree COMPLETELY. It is great marketing to release them separately in steelbooks to make as much profit on them as possible, and to let each film have it's own steelbook to showcase killer artwork plastered all three cases.

Jumbo's suck period when compared to a regular sized steelbook. I hope they never put out another ever again (I know they will, but I can still hope).

You could see the glass half full instead of half empty if you just miss one. If you miss the first one but get the last 2, then you are 2/3's of the way to a complete set. It would not be too difficult to complete the set, and I'm sure having all 3 of them sitting together on the shelf would look a million times better than some fugly jumbo book.

FYI FS released part 2 an 3 in a DVD SB and they soar really high even if the first one never got a SB release. I totally agree with mr. b jumbo SB are ugly and they suck!

My 2 cent.

Have you checked the prices on them recently? Those dvd steelbooks for 2 and 3 have dropped in price tremendously. I remember DMC used to bring in triple digits at one time, but now it can be had for less than half of that. I'm not sure if it's 'cos of the blu-ray steelbooks coming out or just the market for them is shrinking.

I have never really been a fan of the Pirates movies ; I haven't even seen the third in the series...but I will definitely be buying all 3 SB's!

I'm glad I got $110 for DMC and $70 for AWE a while back.
The market is shrinking (IMHO) but the blu-ray releases doesn't help them for sure!

I know what you mean I'm stucked with OOP like Cars, Underworld, Jungle Book, Ratatouille to name a few because I don't want to sell them for less then half of what I paid... (bought them for top dollars on eBay when I was a young stupid padawan in the steelbook world)

Cheers,
Gui.

What I was trying to say is they should keep each movie in their individual steelbook but just sell them together as one package so the trilogy is not scattered and possibly split up. Also I agree the current Jumbo's suck, that's why I mentioned they need to fix them.

Ah, okay, that would be nice, but then if all three steelbooks were housed together, damage would be hidden until it is opened, and then you'd have to take the whole set back for a replacement. If they sold out, then it wouldn't be possible. I think I'd rather all three get released separately so all three could be inspected.

They could offer up a free slipcase when they sell the last one to house all three. I remember Best Buy did this with the Kill Bill movies when they came out in dvd.

Buy the SteelBook and sell the earlier copy either in the classifieds, or trade it in a Blockbuster where you can get $10 min. for it.

I think it depends how lame your Blus are.

For most Disney movies (SLEEPING BEAUTY, WALL-E, etc) I think you can get the $10. But if you're trying to offload something that they are also trying to offload (e.g. THE SPIRIT) then you may be out of luck!

Anyone want my ACROSS AMERICA?? :-)

If you bought it at a retail shop, that's an easy one. Get a refund and pick up the SteelBook. If not, then I guess it's either put it up for trade or see what you can get by trading it in somewhere.

Or, you can keep them both and (gasp!) keep the SteelBook sealed and watch the amaray. I know that sounds crazy, right? I think, but I'm not sure, but there might be one or two peeps here that don't open them (LOL!). Personally, I'd crack the SteelBook open as soon as I got it in my hands, and I'd probably just give the amaray as a Christmas Gift if I couldn't return it for a refund. I'm betting the artwork inside is going to look sweet for all 3 of the POTC steelies.

If he's already opened his amaray, it's unlikely he can get a refund.

I think the best way is to sell it off online or locally. You can at least recover some of the money to offset the SteelBook purchase.

I sort of assumed it was still sealed since he's only had it a few weeks, and that he would know that he is unable to get a refund if it's already open. I didn't feel the need to point out the obvious on that one.
