Default Who here's a fan of Kathryn Bigelow?

She's easily one of my favorite directors. Making action flicks that are more than simply action there's actual emotion and feeling in them.

Since 1990 she's been on a helluva streak of good films.

Blue Steel
Point Break
Strange Days
The Weight of Water
K-19 The Widowmaker (Haven't seen this, although I hear it got bad reviews)
The Hurt Locker (I still have yet to see this)

Those first three are among my favorite action/drama/thrillers.

I've only seen Point Break and Strange Days. I liked both but she's pretty hot.

The ones in BOLD above I've seen - Point Break is a pretty decent action flick for its' time, Strange Days is underrated a bit IMO, Blue Steel I forget the plot exactly but I'm 99% sure I saw & liked it. K-19 is Not the best or really that good, considering it had Harrison Ford in it. I think it kind of fell short of the mark. It also didn't do much $$$$ when it came out, so i'm not alone in that it appears. But, "THE HURT LOCKER" got Rave Reviews when it was out a few months ago in "Select" theaters, and the "At The Movies" guys tv show Gave it HUGE Marks. It willl be a Day One BLURAY Buy for me, as I Really wanted to see it but it wasn't around here unfortunately.

I concur my friend.
Blue Steel was Jamie Lee Curtis as a rookie cop and Ron Silver as the bugnuts crazy Psycho stalker.

I love it, and hope that and Strange Days comes to Blu.

Don't forget she also directed a real vampire movie, "Near Dark".

That's right, thanks. I Love that flick. It's also kind of an "underground" well-liked movie. I looked & it's Not on Bluray yet. It would be a cheaply-produced Bluray as it wasn't a huge hit when it was out, Jamie Lee's done acting it seems, Ron Silver just passed away recently, so who knows. If memory serves me right, Jamie Lee did some nudity in that flick & she looked her usual Hot Self at the time! Even without that, the movie was pretty damn good & I always liked pretty much anything Ron Silver did; great actor, too bad he lost a battle to cancer I believe.

Ditto on POINT BREAK. I just read the Review for the 2008 release & it's only $8.49 now so I just put it in my Cart at AMAZON. It's been Forever since I've seen that flick. I need to find out when "The Hurt Locker" is coming out on Blu.

I haven't seen Blue Steel, Weight of Water, or Hurt Locker (really want to see this), but Near Dark, Point Break, Strange Days and K-19 are all very good flicks.

Strange Day's takes a couple of viewings to really wrap your head around how awesome it is. Probably one of the best movies to be made around the cyberpunk era.

Only seen 'Point break'.At first I felt it was one of those cheesy action movies with bad acting, and cheesy quasi-philosophy,but I have to admit that it has grown on me.Think it actually is a great movie despite it's flaws-or maybe because of them.Looking beyond them lies a very interesting thematic.

I admit not being the most profoundly deep person on earth, but think it's one of those movies which gives you an experience more than a story

agreed, I think that was also Angela Basset's best performance. Closest she has ever come to being the lead actress in an action flick and she did had out some a-whooping too!
Ralph Fines gave a great performance too!

kinda had a similar tone to "children of man" mood wise.

Yeah it's a surprisingly dark look at humanity. Can't wait for it to hit Blu.

Here is a quick warning for the grain haters:
I was lucky enough to catch a screening of Strange Days this summer in Hollywood. The print was beautiful, but much grainier than the LD, DVD and broadcast HD versions. When we finally get Strange Days on BD (hope hope hope) be ready for a grainier image.

Personally, I loved the image (and love grainy transfers) but one of my first thoughts was of the "experts" out there crying foul over the inevitable transfer to Blu.

Grain happens like it or not. Like noise in digital cameras. You just have to deal with it sometimes. I'd rather have a sharp grainy picture over a soft touched up one.

No kidding. I'm a grain lover, I only want to spread the word before the misinformed start talking louder than us...
