We should all know that by now. Three day weekend estimate $21 million and for New Moon $15 million.

New Moon "Eclipses"
Yes but it's still going to outgross one film and thats all that matters to me.

Yes, it was a threadcrap. It wasn't needed, it wasn't funny, and it's also not true. That could be a problem....

No, it wasn't a threadcap. Yes, it was funny (more specifically if you don't hold the material of the books and film as religious dogma). And, by sheer semantics, it IS true. A teenage girl is struggling with her romantic feelings for a wolf boy and a dead boy. Because one is a wolf boy, that would be conducive to a beastiality riddled relationship in the future. Because the other is a dead boy, that would be conducive to a necrophelia riddled relationship in the future.

I just call it as I see it!

It'll probably end up with $280-$290 million. Basically, it made half it's gross in its opening weekend. So much for this being the next Dark Knight, like many thought. I reckon the next film will make about $200-$250 million. Six months of time is not enough to build a larger audience. Look at Back to the Future 3, or Matrix Revolutions. One year is the minimum for franchise pictures.

I don't think anyone thought it would rival the dark knight or even go into the 400 million range. And why are you assuming what the next one will make as you have no idea. What if it pulled a Pirates 2?

Its mind numbing that there are people out there that are older than 15 that defend this cheesy crap.

There were those who saw the opening weekend numbers and thought it would pull in $400 million or more. I think I even read an article about it.

Pirates 2 was released 3 years after the first film. It built a large audience on DVD from a very successful theatrical run. Pirates 3 was following up the very financially successful Dead Man's Chest, but the film wasn't as well received, so it needed more time to gestate and build a larger audience. When making a franchise film, you have to assume that roughly half the people that are seeing an installment either won't like this one or won't see the next one, so you need time to build an audience on home video that wants to see the next film. There has to be room to breathe. Matrix Revolutions and Back to the Future suffered from not having any room between their predecessors, for instance. If you had released those movies 6 months later giving a full year between films, they would have been more successful. Reloaded was only out for about 3 weeks on DVD before Revolutions hit theaters. There was no time for a large amount of people to see Reloaded, enjoy it, and get excited about seeing the third. By the time Reloaded had gained momentum on home video, Revolutions was already exiting theaters.

I enjoy the story in the series, but I don't hold the material as religious dogma. You can say it was funny until you can't type anymore, but that doesn't mean it was funny. I'm not the only one that thinks so because I'm not the only one that has commented on it. Also, the whole necrophelia and beastiality thing is not true. You can try to prove that until you can't type anymore too, but it doesn't make you right. Both are basically a fetish, and you don't see her walking around having sex with a bunch of vampires and werewolves or getting aroused by them. It just so happens that the two people she loves the most besides her parents are those two things, which she finds out after she is already in love with them. I'm glad I could have such a mature conversation. I feel better now.

Its mind numbing when haters continue talking about movies long after the fans have moved on to other things.

It's also mind numbing when some people out there can't figure out that there are people that can actually enjoy things even when they aren't part of the target audience.

It also seems mind numbing that in the previous post where a guy said the the fans have moved on to new things, you still defend it.

People are allowed to still come in here and crap on the movie, yet since assydingo said fans have moved on, I'm not allowed to call people out when I think they are wrong? Give me a break... (nothing wrong with your post at all, assydingo)

Another $15 million... putting it to $500 million worldwide. Inching itself towards the top 50 money makers of all time.

I really hope it beats Indy 4.

I read all the books and enjoyed them very much. I also found the first two films very entertaining, and I am a 32 year old male.

I totally understand why some people would hate the books and the movies what I don't understand is why those people are so offended we enjoyed them.
