Default EA Sports MMA Game!

http://mma.easports.com/home.action

Wonder what you guys think of this game? UFC Undisputed 2009 was very well done by THQ but EA is supposedly going to be using the Fight Night rd.4 engine(which is amazing!). I love fighting sports so Im pumped for this game! I want to see what EA has to bring to the table.

Mods please move if already posted. Thanks

Dana is doing everything he can to limit the names in this game. I am curious to see who is in it. Trailer looked cool on the Strikeforce fights with Fedor and Brett

Dana cant do anything to hold names back. Its a Strikeforce game. No UFC fighters will be in this game with the exception of Randy Coture, and now probably Dan Henderson because he recently left the UFC and signed with Strikeforce.

I read an article that said EA is trying to offer contracts to UFC fighters to appear in the game and Dana threaten to kick out any fighter from UFC if they appeared in the game. I want to see how this plays out, should be interesting indeed.

Actually it's NOT a Strikeforce game. The final roster has not been announced yet, but some of the names announced are not on the Strikeforce roster.

Dana White can go to hell, for all I care. He has popularized the sport solely by emphasizing every douchebag/ Mountain Dew aspect of it and what we have now is a monopoly as run by a fourteen-year-old wigger. Nevertheless, I do love fighting, and while I enjoyed the THQ game, it needed a serious injection of depth to withstand more than a month of playtime. There is nothing bad about having EA compete with THQ, as this will force both companies to improve upon their games in light of losing ground to each other. Hopefully, with names like Fedor and Arlovski and maybe even Gina Carano, real fight fans will see that EA's game has potential and give it a chance.

I don't think I've ever thought of Dana White as a wigger . . . He seems like a pretty cool guy to me Also, where are you seeing that Arlovski will be in this game?

And, while the roster may feature a lot of guys from Strikeforce, it's not a Strikeforce game. Otherwise, it would carry the Strikeforce name.

Let me clarify, I didn't mean that Dana White was a wigger, I meant that he helped market the UFC to fourteen-year-old wiggers. As to him being a cool guy, I have personally watched him bash gay people and women, and at times act like a complete ass. That may just be an act for the Ultimate Fighter TV show, and I have no idea how he is to be around personally, but the general impression I get of him is not a favorable one. I especially do not like how he will not give an opportunity to talented female fighters like Cyborg or Gina Carano because he said they are too pretty. While he has made the UFC more successful, he has done it by limiting every aspect of fighting I enjoyed in the first place. I still enjoy the UFC, but feel that something was lost in the push to make it a household name. Most of the matches nowadays are pure slugfests, where even great grapplers (Noguiera (sp), for one) feel that they have to trade punches even with much better boxers. Arlovski in the EA game I'm not sure about, I was just throwing Strikeforce names out there, sorry if I'm wrong about that one. I like Arlovski, and didn't really like his character in the UFC game. He was the ugliest man-beast I've ever seen in that game. Anyway, I hope the EA game makes the UFC developers work harder to make an even better game.

Fair enough about White . . . I personally have always gotten a pretty good vibe from him and never seen anything like what you described.

I'm on the fence about EA's MMA. While I want it to be an awesome game, at the same time I'm having a hard time getting excited about it just because most of my favorite fighters are in the UFC. I agree with the previous poster in that UFC, while really fun, does lack the speed of the real sport and is lacking in depth. Aside from Matt Hughes' running slam, there really aren't any moves that differentiate one guy from another, aside from the standard BJJ/wrestling moves. Striking is also pretty slow, and it's pretty hard to actually make Anderson Silva, for example, actually fight like Anderson Silva. Muay Thai clinches/knees are way too slow.

So . . . I'll at least rent EA's game to check it out, but I really do wish there were more top tier fighters in it, especially Arlovski.

UFC 2009 was good, but limited, no southpaw stance, every fighter limited by a certain stylistic moveset. EA MMA looks better, the fighters aren't as restricted by a specific style, the roster looks excellent so far (Gegard, Randy, Fedor, Frank Shamrock, Lawler, Cung, Jacare, Mayhem etc.) and if there is a system as good as BoxerShare was on FNR4, the lack of UFC fighters shouldn't be a huge problem.

Fighters that sign up for EA MMA will be blacklisted from the UFC

If Fedor wanted to go to the UFC, Dana White would tear that list up.

As much as I'd like this game the roster will be filled with nobodys.

The graphics will look amazing though but the lack of GSP, Penn, Hughes and everyone else just makes it boring for me. The last thing I wanna do is play as Gina Carano.

Fedor maybe.

UFC is the real deal and the other companies just seem to have guys who didn't make it in the UFC or didn't want to sign with them * cough cough * Fedor.

We can say all we want about Andrei and Rodgers but I don't see them doing anything against the likes of a Carwin or even Lesnar.

Penn, GSP and Silva own their respective divisions...no matter the company.

I think Rogers could hang with Carwin, but your point is taken. Good for them that they have an actual organization behind them, but Strikeforce isn't nearly as deep as the UFC and they will have one or two really good fighters in each division. I think they will make up for that by really inflating the stats of guys like King Mo and Robbie Lawler.

The only people in the game that I would look forward to playing with are Gegard Mousasi and Fedor. I like Jake Shields but if the game is realistic, he won't have any punching power and I don't want to constantly lay and pray while playing the game.

I wouldn't necessarily say that. Frank retired undefeated in he UFC, Lawler went on a tear while he was there, Nick Diaz was and still is brawling at a VERY competitive level, Dan Henderson came off two big wins (Franklin and Bisping), Arloski was very competitive when he left, Baroni added color to the landscape of any venue, Scott Smith had a bad run, but he needed to grow and turns out he's a "comeback" phenom!
I think that as long as people share the mentality of "If you aren't in UFC, you aren't sh!t" plays into the hands of UFC executive's marketing - they want you to think that and they've done a masterful job at it.

As for me - I watch all the MMA venues...I think Strikeforce is excellent for MMA in the way of competition and when they aire their free MMA events, it's the MMA community that wins out!

And Dana White has never changed his mind before

Strikeforce has good fighters, but the reality is that Fedor's "#1" status (as determined by the media) is what is keeping Strikeforce's heart beating. They simply don't put together enough events to develop their ranks like Zuffa does--Strikeforce's best prospects for talent being the UFC/WEC's tablescraps of unsigned free agents. If the UFC can produce a dominant champion who can decisively defend the belt several times in a row--maybe Lesnar, maybe Mir--then even Fedor cannot be counted on to continue bringing the hype--especially while he has the M-1 Global chain around his neck.

I watch them all also. Have been since the days of Pride. I don't think that if you're not in the UFC you suck...but I do think UFC has the best shows and rosters. You mentioned some good name in there but seeing how GSP, Penn and Silva have dominated...even seeing the other guys fight I don't see how the "others" would win.

All FREE events are good events :-)

One thing though, Fedor is over rated and hyped. I used to love him in Pride...always did always will but the UFC does have the best heavy weights out there. There aren't many but the ones they do have are pretty darn good right now.

I agree - but the best fighters will NEVER fight the best fighters as long as there are rival organizations. The best way to illustrate that, is back when Randy Couture was running through the UFC talent (from UFC 13-15.5) and got the top spot....and then went overseas and ran up against Enson Inoue and got bested. The way UFC has their fighters on LOCKDOWN, that would never happen now.
We'll never know how good Jake Shields will do against the upper talent in the UFC 170 bracket...and it's shame too.
