i doubt we'll ever see the prequels get the family guy treatment, but it would be cool. Although they wouldn't be able to go to town on them, Lucas only allowed sound effects and rotoscoped footage (the ship battles) as long as he got script aproval, thats why none of the jokes are too harsh at star Wars expense. Rumour is that a leia kisses luke joke was asked to be removed from "something, something, something darkside" probabaly because Lucas relaizes that it proves he didn't have the story maped out when he wrote that scene in empire and he doesn't want attention drawn to it.

Although i liked the jab in the special when yoda says "there is another" to herbert (obi wan), thats another part of the OT that makes no sense and is further proof Lucas never had a set plan on how to end the series until he began making Jedi

I'd love to see Family guy continue these parodies, perhaps Lucas would allow the first three indy movies to be spoofed, or maybe Zemekis would allow BTTF to be pariodied, or more likley FOX fa ranchise like Planet of the apes, or alien could be spoofed

This may not be a confirmation, but on the Cleavland Show, Cleavland was complaining about some things and he says "And they also expect me to be in all 6 of the Star Wars parodies"

MaCfarlane already stated that they werent doing the prequels. If I remember right it is on the Blue Harvest bonus features but I dont really remember. He said that it just takes to much time and that the better 3 are enough.

The ship FX are *not* rotoscoped, but lovingly recreated by the Family Guy CG department.

The next one is supposed to be 1.78, but the show is HD, even at 1.33 (supposedly McFarlane doesn't like widescreen).

I enjoyed this one much better than "Blue Harvest". With "Blue Harvest", I felt the musical and the lecherous Herbert (Obi-Wan Kenobi) was really dragging the story down. But then again I'm more biased towards "Empire Strikes Back", so...

Question Anybody else have this problem

So picked up my PS3 today and watched a few blue ray movies for the first time in glorious blue ray (Dark Knight) and Star Trek (am i the only one that felt that the movie suffered by being presented in the wide screen format) but when i popped in something something dark side I have this black border all around my picture! Is this a common problem or do i have a defective disk?

Nothing defective. Every episode of Family Guy up until now (including this one) has been animated in 1.33:1 aspect ratio. Black bars along the sides are exactly what you should be seeing.

venom thanks for the quick and awesome reply, wow did not know that normally I just stretch out the picture on my cable box but I just thought that with a dvd that it would in fact fit the entire screen i suppose i will have to play around with the settings on my hd tv then.

You will have black bars on the sides for all films shot in standard 1.33:1 or 1.37:1 aspect ratio.. examples Gone with the Wind, Wizard of Oz, Casablanca.

Just remember your tv is now a Widescreen TV and is rectangle shaped so you will observe black bars on sides for most classic films, tv shows etc.

Watched this last night. I'd personally rate it at 3.5 / 5. Animation was great, but some of the jokes were a little flat, IMO. Think I liked Blue Harvest just a bit more.

With Lucasfilm approving many aspects of production prior to release, I was surprised at how many times they let the F-bomb drop!

If that was true, then please explain why The Cleveland Show is 16x9?

Because he's not the sole executive producer on that show. Fox also has a say. The fact that it's a brand new show with a new look and production line, so it was easier to start that way.

The animators lamented they wanted to produce the Disney-universe in widescreen (The Road to the Multiverse) but McFarlane vetoed it.

Family Guy
will be 1.78 next year or 2011, depending on production order. The "Jedi" spoof will be the first one produced in the format. No word on American Dad yet.

something dark side was on the lame side, almost every joke felt SOOOOOO forced however the animation was excellent.

The first 20 minutes was good yet annoying! Felt like they were just going through the scenes and were just trying to make a joke. When it started working was with Yoda! That's when the jokes started to come naturally. I do think the movie was rushed though. It just felt like they were trying to cram so much into an hour when they could have just stretched it and actually made it almost a full length and work so much better.

Did not hate it just have minor complaints

I thought it was great. On par with, or better then Blue Harvest. Some of the jokes were a little forced, and I hated Yoda... wish they chose somebody else for that character. But I am rather biased, and absolutely hate that FG character. Lando was an interesting choice. Bobba Fett was absolutely hilarious when I first saw him. I cannot wait for his role in the next one.

Any word when the next one is due out? I will assume that the time between then and now is the same as between Blue Harvest and this one.

That actually would have been GREAT if they had expanded to widescreen for elements of the multi-verse episode. Would have been hilarious, especially if they had commented on it (i.e., "woah, does everything look a little wider to you?"). But then, of course, go back to 4:3 by the time they find their way back to the proper world.

I really don't want to see widescreen forced just for the sake of widescreen though. I think it's hilarious many folks here are fanatics about OAR, but when a TV show is produced in something other than 16:9, they get their panties in a bunch.

Anyway, my copy of this "movie" came yesterday. I'm working on burning through the season box sets right now. I figure I'll do Blue Harvest and this one after I finish up with all of the episodes. About half-way through right now.
