Was able to borrow a buddy's SMS-1 for a few days to take a reading of my room.
Thought I'd post a few pics of room measurement before and after EQ.
Sub x-over set at 60hz.

Here is the response with new sub position, no EQ. Not bad at all...

After minor tweaking on the Classe PEQ. Wasn't bad before but this is pretty damn flat!

Wow, that is really flat. I recently bought an SMS-1 but haven't had a chance to use it yet. I hope I can get a similar result.

That is quite impressive js666! Interesting you set the crossover at 60Hz...is there a reason?

I have to disagree. Unless he lives in an anechoic chamber, it has nothing to do with the subwoofer. It is the room boundaries, furniture, and the location of the subwoofer that determine its performance in a typical living room. The real question is what happens to the level of the bass sound as you walk around the room.

I recently built two big and powerful subwoofers (a 15" and a 12"). I already had two upgraded 12" Hsu subwoofers. Currently, there are 4 external subwoofers (three 12" and one 15") and two 15" subwoofers built-in the front speakers. The new curve after equalization looks pretty flat from 15Hz to around 80Hz+ (the crossover frequency). When I run test tones through the subwoofers and walk around the room, the variation in sound pressure level is around 2-3dB's.

Aren't those eq's for balancing out the peaks? If I'm not mistaking, giving big gains to certain frequency ranges can kill the headroom and muddy up the sound. Why the +6dB gain at 20hz BD? And do you have your subs and speakers calibrated for 80dB?

I wasn't talking about his sub, I was referencing his towers. My thought was that he may be a music lover first, which I just "assumed" could explain the crossover setting being below 80hz.

Actually when listening to music, my mains are set to full range with no sub. 60 hz only with HT.

I do the same as well js666. 60hz on movies, pure direct on music.

The seat next to me is very nearly identical in terms of measurement, and when listening to music or watching movies, I'm not walking around the room.

Sorry about this. I did not read your posts very carefully and just assumed you meant the curve was flat because of the quality of the subwoofer.

I don't walk around the room when I listen to music or watch movies. However, when I calibrate my subwoofers, I walk around the room with an SPL meter to check the level of bass. This is mainly to make sure others (WAF, children, friends, etc.) who may not be sitting in the sweet spot can hear quality bass sound.

The frequencies are interdependent. The resonant frequency in my room is around 25Hz. When I play test tones through individual subwoofers, the whole room starts shaking at 25Hz. I have to lower this frequency peak. When I do this, it creates a big valley. I had to boost 20Hz to get rid off the big valley. If I remember correctly, there was a western show on TV in the 1960's called The Big Valley. I have seen some of the re-runs.

I did not calibrate my speakers to 80dB. This curve has nothing to do with calibration. I just turned up the volume on my receiver to take a picture. If I turn the volume down, the whole curve will be shifted downward. If I turn up the volume, the curve will shift upward.

...and by the looks of those measurements, I'm sure they're are enjoying your quality bass.

I'm not exactly a novice in this hobby though, and I'm SURE everyone who listens to music or watches movies at my place enjoys it TREMENDOUSLY.
