Default Rank Your 10 Favorite films from 1990 [DECADE PROJECT]

Al right so I started the 89 thread on Sunday and then CZAR has done two threads similar since (cheap plug for you). I am now going to cover 1990-1999 over the next month or so (hopefully).

Here is how this will work you may pick anywhere from 5-10 films that were your favorites from that year (please go by the Domestic US Releases). Please rank AT LEAST the TOP FIVE IN ORDER. How you place the film will affect how it ranks at the end of the week (each thread will stay “active” for one week and then votes will be tallied.

1st place – 10 points
2nd place – 8 points
3rd place – 6 points
4th place – 4 points
5th place – 2 points
the other 5 films – 1 point

Once we have completed 1990-1999 we will have a bigger poll/thread… so let’s get at it!!

Here is the list of the top 10 domestic releases:

285,761,243 Home Alone (1990)
217,631,306 Ghost (1990)
184,208,848 Dances with Wolves (1990)
178,406,268 Pretty Woman (1990)
135,270,000 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990)
120,709,868 The Hunt for Red October (1990)
119,394,840 Total Recall (1990)
115,288,665 Die Hard 2 (1990)
103,738,726 Dick Tracy (1990)
91,457,688 Kindergarten Cop (1990)

NOTEABLE AWARDS:
Academy for Best Picture - Dances with Wolves [runner ups - Awakenings, Ghost, Goodfellas, Godfather Pt. 3]
Godlen Globe for Best Drama - Dances with Wolves [runner ups - Avalon, Goodfellas, Godfather Pt. 3 & Reversal of Fortune]
Globe for Best Comedy/Musical - Green Gard [runner ups - Dick Tracy, Ghost, Home Alone, Pretty Woman]

10 Most Popular films at IMDB.com (though I think most of these are not eligible, lol)
205924 8.8 Goodfellas (1990)
1604 8.1 Nema-ye Nazdik (1990)
91442 8.0 Edward Scissorhands (1990)

same here... I see there is already diversity after just 2 of us as well which is great.. I have seen all of those except Predator 2 and enjoyed most of them.

1990 looks like it had more sequels than 07 did with its threequals!

Honestly, I didn't mind Predator 2...not great but still mindlessly enjoyable in parts.

Oh, and I agree, lots of sequels in 1990

love the differing opinions.. Id say its pretty solid as I had no issues making a list a feel like I had not seen that many from the year (probably 50 or less)

The hardest part for me was weighing the good films I think are great now vs. the nostalgia factor. I was a kid in 1990 and that was bout the time I started watching movies so many films from that year hold a special place to me. For instance, I had The Duck Tales Movie and whichever Ernest movie came out that year (Ernest Goes to Jail I believe) in my list for a bit because my brother and I would watch those all the time.

EDIT: And Dick Tracy was up there. My mom made me an awesome home made Dick Tracy outfit for Halloween one year so that has a lot of nostalgia.

Too much cheese in 1990. I had to fit 6,8,9 and 10 in on my list and still couldn't find room for Hard To Kill and Men At Work.
