I was wondering if anyone happens to own the UK BD release of Scooby-Doo and knows if the disc is cut (like the previous dvd releases) or is now uncut?
The BBFC doesn't list any recent re-submission, but at the same time with the number of languages included you would have thought this is the same disc for all of Europe, and I doubt other countries would have problems with the cut footage. |

It was cut by 1 second, according to this page:
http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=2381 "R2 United Kingdom - (Warner Bros Home Entertainment) - 0m 1s - Cuts to potentially imitable martial arts techniques (kicks to head)" |

Perhaps but if you had the choice of the cut or uncut version of a film at virtually the same price...surely you would choose the uncut version??
I have 2 cut bds and it really bothers me... I want the unrated AvP2 to become available for region B and I would like the uncut 2 disc Casino Royale but the Australian release appears to be unavailable. Mind you, it could be worse, I might own the US Casino Royale instead of the UK equivalent. That US version was totally castrated. I sometimes read folks stating that you should also buy a region A player to have access to bds such as an unrated AvP2. But there are so many region B or unlocked discs already on my shopping list, that another player will have to come later, when I've run out of discs that I can already play. |

Of course I would. But if I didn't, and it was only one second that was cut, it wouldn't bother me too much.

Fair enough. But you shouldn't be too surprised that other collectors would have a problem with it. Each to their own. I read folks often complaining about a lack of slipcovers, or UK or Australian age rating certificates on the packaging. Hardly surprising that some would feel exactly the same way about censorship, in any shape or form.

Warner has a problem. They are lazy when it comes to producing a lot of BDs. Instead of making all-new masters for the UK release, they simply take the US release and put new art on the disc along with a cover that adheres to UK requirements.
This sort of laziness leads to uncut versions of Batman Returns, The Matrix, and Scooby-Doo. Man, why can't they just spend the huge amount of money to make region specific BDs. This is just awful on their part. |

Its a problem because it can become widespread and every studio will figure out to do this. This leads to lower costs of Blu-ray Discs, less censorship, and a lot of happy people.
![]() Why would a company want that? Oh, and I'm not going to go and edit my original post just to add the ![]() |
