Its not a rumor that the PS3 will support 3D, its been confirmed that it will.

My guess is the processing power of the cell makes this possible and the only player that doesn't need the new HDMI 1.4 spec to do it.

Expect PS3 fans to be on high speed when watching a 3D movie though, haha.
