This is why so much of the world is frustrated with the US.
We (the US, that is) just don't get it. Seriously, in most other parts of the world if something is 'better' and technically 'superior' in all ways you just do it. There is no soap opera about who spends more on advertising and who spreads the most FUD, etc. It is just, "This is the best so we do it." It's very unfortunate because it makes people from the US look bad in many ways I won't list here. I would say that supporting HDDVD at this point is 'un-American'; however, it is _exactly_ how someone from the US would be expected to act. The US loves drama. I do wish we could finally get over it and instead just make intelligent decisions based on merit instead of gossip and advertising mindshare. |
