The Dialog Normalization Table in post #2 is updated. If you have information about other movies, please let me know. Thank you.

Thanks for the table. It makes such a difference to overall movie experience. Is there anyway to find out the offset using the PS3 w/o bitstream?

Thanks

To the best of my knowledge, the only way you can find out the offset is by setting the BD player to bitstream. In addition, your receiver must be able to report that information. I would not be surprised if some receivers did not have the option of displaying the dialog normalization offset on the screen.

Hi crazyBlue.

It would be nice to find out how to get the dialog normalization offsets with Pioneer Elite receivers. The result should be a negative number and I have heard Pioneer receivers give all sorts of weird results, both positive and negative. With the Denon receivers, it is pretty easy.

Call Pioneer or send them an email and find out the proper way.

Glad to see you are back, as well.

I won't over do it for you , but here are a couple. I've watched about 10 in the past week or so, but here are the last two:

Cadillac Records: TrueHD (-5db)
The Invisible: LPCM (0db)

Thank you for your kind words. Losing a member of the family, particularly a mother, is one of the hardest things in the world and leaves a permanent scar in your heart. Only time can make it less painful.

Lou, I will add the movies to the list.

I was the same way with my Grandfather. I was closer to him than either parent. I was in a depression for a good couple months over it. The family has fallen to crap since he passed away.

All I can say is cherish the memories of her and they will keep you going every day.

To this day (12 years later) I think of him. I have his obituary laminated and taped to my computer monitor. I feel he looks over me and watches everything I do. He guides me and helps me make decisions.

So if I understand this correctly, the Batman blu ray I was playing last night, having to crank my volume up an additional 10 over tv and game playing is normal?

I have my PS3 set to use PCM.

Thanks

Default Slumdog BD does not work on PS3

Been searching high and low for an answer to my this, ... but to no avail. And I can't find a good place to place this post - so sorry for butting in on this audio discussion.

At issue is this: My Slumdog Millionaire BD does not work on my PS3.

I say "won't work" as opposed to "won't play" because the disc does not even "show up" in the PS3 menu like every single other BD/DVD/CD I've ever put in. Normally on a PS3 you would get a little blue disc looking icon for when a BD is loaded. In the same menu you would also see the "BD Data Utility" folder. When I load in my "Slumdog" BD - the disc icon never appears.

After having doodled around with it for a while I went ahead and upgraded the firmware on the PS3 to the latest - this made absolutely no difference whatsoever. Final note: This is the only disc ever encountered that has not played flawlessly. I'm stumped!
