I heard rumours that Killzone 3 has a new engine running at 60fps with destrutable environments. Anyone else heard?

I'd expect R3 could be this year but doubt the other 2.
If Killzone 3 does come with destuctible scenery it wouldn't change the gameplay too much apart from kill the cover system so doubt that too.
To be honest out of these 3 games I'll only be buying R3 and K3. Infamous was good but not great for me. Seemed very average seeing as a lot of the missions were exactly the same but disguised to seem different.
Roll on E3!!

i would expect Resistance 3 to hit the shelves in 2010. it seems that Insomniac alternates years with Resistance and Ratchet, and 2009 was Ratchet's year.

Yes please to all of these

In order of how badly I want them, Infamous 2, Killzone 3, Resistance 3.

It comes as no surprise to me about Resistance 3 being announced since it's more than likely coming out this November. Infamous 2 is a little surprising, but not entirely. Killzone 3 is the shocker for me. I am not surprised there will be a sequel, given the cliffhanger ending of KZ2, but I figured it'd take a long time to release a sequel, say late 2011/early 2012.

They are all big games so I think Infamous 2 and KZ3 will be probably out next years. Usually those type of title takes 2 years developpement for a sequel. R3 will be probably out this november following Insomniac routine of Ratchet and Resistance.

By the end of 2010 it will have been nearly 2 years since KZ2 hit. I don't think it'll hit until early 2011, only because I assume Resistance 3 will hit sometime around Nov. 2010.

That's highly doubtful, if you go by the developers' comments on pushing their engine further for the next version. Add that with the knowledge that deferred engines (POST-processing), this gen, doesn't lend itself well to 60fps. Killzone 2 uses a deferred rendering solution, so the likelihood of that rumor is slim to none.

Yeah with the internal memory of all systems being so low the idea that they could enhance graphics, in game numbers of players, and out-put resolution (1080p) and then have it at 60fps, it just isn't going to happen right now.

But that doesn't mean they can't make a beast follow-up.

It's not about the memory. Killzone 2 only uses under 300MB of the 462MB of AVAILABLE memory (RAM). There is PLENTY room to grow. It's just that a deferred render (G-Buffer) takes time, since it's a POST-process. That prevents a likely case of 60fps. The engine is already developed. They are NOT starting from the ground up all over again.

BTW, there was STILL 40% of system resources to play with for the single player experience.

Do the Devkits have extra RAM and whatnot, or do devs have to run all their extra tools within that 512MBs?

It is possible to offload GPU processes onto the SPUs and speed up slow post-processing and enhance the engine for 60fps gameplay.

I think Killzone 3 will have 60fps.

I just hope it's not like COD... that dumb game made everything far too fast, I strained my eyes and was blind for hours after a gaming session.

I think the bigger issue with R2 was the co-op mode.
