Default a. Can't decide which one to choose

Can someone help guide me on which subwoofer to purchase? My budget is between $350 -$450. Nothing over $450. I'm looking at a subwoofer size 10in. or 12in. It is a finished basement. I put a curtain to divide the room because it is a big area. So the room dimensions are 12feet by 17feet. Thats the area I will be watching my movies in. I'm going to use the sub mainly for movies & videogames. Very little music. I want to feel the bass hit me but I don't need it to bring the house down. Also the only place I really could put the subwoofer is right next to the left front speaker tower against the wall. So I want the subwoofer to look nice & not really be an eyesore. Anyway, these are my choices narrowed down in no specific order:

1. Elemental Designs A2-300 12in $350
2. Outlaw LFM-1 Compact 10in. $399
3. Klipsch SW-450 10in. $449
4. Venturi V1020 10in $ 349
5. Venturi V1220 12in $449
6. HSU VTF-1 10in $449
7. HSU STF-2 10in $349

I have no way of testing or listening to any on these subs unfortunately. Just curious what your top two picks would be and why.
Thanks for any input or ideas. I'm actually leaning toward the ED A2-300 or HSU STF-2.

Add this one to the list:

SVS PB10-NSD 10in $449

SVS

Out of those listed my top two choices are the SVS and the ED.

The SVS sub would get my vote too......the other choices I like that you posted would be the Hsu or Outlaw too.

the eD a2-300 or hsu stf-2 get my votes. i've owned an stf-2 and loved it. currently, i own an a2-300 and love it. of the subs you listed the a2-300 will probably provide you w/ the most output, and either the hsu stf-2, vtf-1 or outlaw lfm-1 compact would provide the most accurate, musical bass.

the svs pb10-nsd is a great performer as well, but w/ its $449 pricetag plus shipping, i think the eD and hsu sub(the stf-2, not the vtf-1) are better choices within your budget...

Just ordered the HSU STF-2 today. I'm hoping I made the right choice. But from other sites I've been on, seems to be right for me.

I will tell you that the Hsu will be a great sub, I spent a lot of time on the phone with Pete Hsu and talking about their company and subs and really wanted to get one of their VTF line subs. Ultimately I got the eD, but mostly because I have young kids that like to 'touch' and with all the switches and tuning tools on the back of the sub will cause temptation for my kids(3, 6, one on the way) my wife and I figured less is more in this case.... Next time I get a sub, my sights will be set on Hsu or Outlaw, but I expect that the eD will last me the next 8-10 years.

Anyways, Congrats. Let us know what you think of it. There is a Hsu owners thread, perhaps you could revive that thread with the LOVE you will have for your sub and we will find more Hsu owners on this site from now on.....

The Hsu will have an almost completely flat response from about 25-150 hz. Roll off will begin about 25 hz and you should see it go down to probably about 20-22 hz easily before it really drops off, once it is in your room and setup.

Thanks, I have a little kids too. A 2yr old & a 1yr old. But right now my setup is in the basement so I'm in the clear right now with them touching anything. I have a question about the spikes on the sub. The sub will be on a pergo floor against a wall. I heard that it can vibrate on the floor if you don't have a carpet under it or some kind of coasters for the spikes. Any of this true & if so what the best solution. I'm kind of not liking the idea of putting a little carpet/mat under the sub. Any ideas?
