I don't know of any TV that has great speakers - and I also have a Sony TV. The TV sounds okay, but it is far from great. TV speakers are usually 2 or 3" cheap paper cones that can be replaced for about $10.

I certainly agree that PCM sounds better than DD or DD+, but the difference is not night and day. PCM usually has more clarity or depth, but to claim to hear those differences on little paper TV speakers would be a stretch. And this is not even considering the fact that the audio decoding is done by your TV as opposed to a receiver or processor.

To enjoy the benefits of PCM or any HD audio, you need at least a decent receiver and speakers.
