Default Has anyone imported The Crow from Japan

Or at the very least, does anyone know of a site with a review of the Japanese release of the Crow? I'm considering ordering it from YesAsia but I also know that the release of the Crow in Europe was terrible. I hope it's not the same release.

I bought it and the theatrical version of Halloween (zombie) from amazon.co.jp and am very pleased with them both. They look and play great.

How long do we have to wait for a U.S. release of The Crow?!? I believe it falls under the Disney umbrella now...? I hope this gets released in 2010...seeing as they missed an opportunity to do a 15th anniversary release, last year! Love this movie.

Likely a very long time. All Disney catalog properties will either be a long wait or never released on Blu-ray. They only released like 40 movies on Blu-ray in 2009. Any minor or major catalog property has basically no chance of coming out unless they ramp up production greatly. Buy the import if you love the movie.

So now that Marvel is under the corporate umbrella of Disney, I wonder how this process will be effected once the Marvel licensing properties have expired at other studios and are under Disney's control.

From what I remember reading, the 'other' companies that made the marvel movies..Fox for example with X-Men, have the rights to those movies and they don't expire. Whether GhostRider, Daredevil, Elektra, Punisher, Fantastic Four also fall under that category...I don't know.

Sony/Spider-Man does though...again, according to the internet article I read.

(everything on the internet is true)

To me yes..but I love the movie. But I could see where others would be reluctant to drop that kind of $$$ on one movie. But I've spent 90.00 on JPN Anime DVDs before so...ya

Also there is no word on a US release anytime soon...which I find odd..

From Amazon JP I bought the Crow with the JPN version of Sleepy Hollow..another one of my all time favorites.

If a movie is one of my faves I have no trouble spending lots of cash on it if I'm afraid there won't ever be a US release, or a release way in the future. Should have waited before I plunked down $50 for The Neverending Story.

Depends on a few things:

How much do you like the movie?
Do you mind waiting for who knows how long for Disney to get around to releasing it here?
Do you think Disney could do better than Universal's already great JPN release?

It looks like The Crow Italian is a different studio than the German and UK. Is it the same transfer as the other Euro releases? It's such a good price, I want it to be a good release!

If it is, it's not worth buying.

Were the other Euro releses from the same studio/distributor? I heard something about a terrible EIV release. The Italian release is by Eagle. I seem to remember Eagle having a good reputation

F it. I've been working my anus off in school this summer and getting the grades to show for it, and my birthday is coming up, so I bit the bullet and ordered this puppy as a treat to myself. I ended up getting it from HMV, as it ended up being about two dollars cheaper than Yes Asia and three bucks less than Amazon. This is my first imported title, can't wait to finally see this the way it was meant to be seen! Well . . . again. I saw it in the theater on opening night in a small two screen theater that was always on point when it came to presenting their movies.

I was actually looking at screen caps of it last night and, even though I've seen this movie probably 40-50 times, this was the first time I noticed that he actually has the scar from the comics that runs from under his eye across the bridge of his nose. Would've been even cooler if they'd made his left eye a different color, but nonetheless, I'm excited to finally see this in good detail.

Cool. Let us know what you think of the PQ. I lived in Japan last year and went around looking for it, but to no avail. I'm dying for a US release.

Tool rocks btw.
