I know I'm a lil' late to the party here, but having no prior exposure to anything Star Trek related till tonight, I must admit that the new movie was cussing awesome.

Having liked this movie so much, would you recommend i watch the older Star Trek films? If so, which ones? how about the TV series?

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and Star Trek: First Contact might be good starting points though they are with other actors (or other century generations) than the modern reincarnation.

Or the word "armada"... I counted at least 3 times and that would be 3 times more than I ever heard it in any other trek series/movie.

I watched the Star Trek on blu for the first time and i must say, oh wow heeeeeeee experienced a lot of lense flare... it was excessive. Was it annoying? Hell Yes.

Due to excessive lense flare i would rate 3 stars out of 5 in PQ department.

If it only had something like 2% lense flare out of the running time it would've been alright.

Thumbs up

Loved the new film! Not a fan of the original series or the other Star Trek television series....but the new film hooked me...looking forward to the next installment.

lol, All the intense action and you are talking lens flare? LOL. Wasn't there lots of lens flare in 2001?

Anyway, I thought it gave a more realistic look to the film and here is why JJ Abrams used it:

"I want [to create] the sense that, just off camera, something spectacular is happening. There was always a sense of something, and also there is a really cool organic layer that's a quality of it. They [lens flares] were all done live, they weren't added later. There are something about those flares, especially in a movie that can potentially be very sterile and CG and overly controlled. There is something incredibly unpredictable and gorgeous about them. It is a really fun thing. Our DP would be off camera with this incredibly powerful flashlight aiming it at the lens. It became an art because different lenses required angles, and different proximity to the lens. Sometimes, when we were outside we'd use mirrors."

Default Star Trek Digital Copy Code

Help! I got the collectors edition BluRay with the Enterprise model for x-mas. My digital copy access code was thrown out with wrapping paper...

If anyone who is not going to use theirs could send me a private message with it included I would forever be in your debt.

Man. To charge our neighbors to the north that much extra is not logical.

Are your discs region 1? It might be worth a run across the border.
