Another good choice! Since you said you can go higher, go with the eD A2-300. Trust us, you won't regret it.

That could be a nice pick for an apartment. Spec wise though, could that 8" driver keep up with the others listed?

It said it had extension to 32hz. Really, you cannot compare an 8" driver to a 12" driver.

I have a huge room and this little 8 inch is INCREDIBLE. Tight and controlled. Smaller footprint. Maybe this would be more desirable in an apt over extension. But regardless of where you live, the STF 1 is an awesome sub.

Not saying this to take anything away from the A2-300, its just dont over look it just cause it has an 8 inch driver.

In talking with Pete Hsu at Hsu Research, we discussed all their subs, and when we talked about this one, he said, that it sounds like it plays deeper then it does. And that roll off starts at 32hz, but will go a little lower once it is placed in a room, to say about 29-30 hz, not huge, but for an 8" it is pretty good. He also said that it has a full sound above 32 hz and maximizes the bass output from your crossover to the 32hz, which is why it seems to dig deeper then it does.

They are some really cool guys over at Hsu, I really wanted the VTF-2, but the wife wasn't going for it.

OP, whether you get a Hsu or eD, you will be getting a great sub.

i really think an a2-300 is probably overkill for an apt. sure, it's probably the best value at $350, but i don't think you'd ever be able to use it to it's potential in an apt setting. also, it's pretty frickin big, another strike if space it at a premium.

i'm sure the stf-1 would be a good choice. i'd also add to the possible list one of eD's sealed offerings the a3s-250. i have one and it's great...

The size of the subwoofer in relation to the room it is going into and the subwoofer's components are irrelevant. Properly placed, setup, and tuned should yield the same results, regardless of size. I know a few members with apartments and condos who have happily owned and run their A2-300's.
