they just left my mall last week, i was up at school though and didn't see it. my mom works there so i asked her if she saw it, and she remembers "seeing some wii stuff there last week" i was like MOM! YOU ARE RETARDED! she doesn't get the whole blu-ray thing yet, ive tried to explain it to her, just doesn't get it. she liked buying us VHS a year after we got a dvd player and claimed she couldn't see a difference. my dad walked in on me watching ice age 2 last night his jaw nearly hit the floor, he couldn't keep his eyes off it. but he was standing at the side about 2 feet from my screen. i kept telling him he needed to be a little farther back but he just stood there.

Wow, hey guys I got me some neighbors, I went by there today, it's a nice set-up. Nice to see people get informed about the format. Where you guys hail from? (Ashburn, Va)

Centreville. Today was my off-friday from work....so I took advantage.

They will be at Tysons till Sunday. The guy I talked to mentioned going to Philly and hoping he could demo "Invincible".

Hey.....we locals to Northern VA should meet up some time.

Hahahaha! I feel for your old man... he's gotta try and get his wife to let him buy HD electronics when she obviously won't think it's worth it.... that's an uphill battle.

Everyone should go and check out the Meet up thread in the Off Topic.

I know a few of us may be going out tonight and Sunday.

Maybe we can get a real group together.

Thanks for the info. I'll be leaving work shortly and heading to Tyson's for the Disney Blu-ray tour. Will meet my wife there and eat at the Indian Restaurant (Fusion?) that faces the lower parking deck. If they're still there. Can't find them in the Tysons lookup. Not good if they've moved. Going off the diet tonight and was really looking forward to Indian food.

But the Disney show comes first.

Fairfax, just across from GMU.

P.S.- looks like Chow Hound says that Indian restaurant has closed.

OK- Going to Bombay Tandoor first, just a ways down from Tysons. Then to Disney.

Say, how long does it take to go thru the presentation, etc?

The presentation is very short. Talks about Walt Disney and then goes onto Blu-Ray. It's really very informal. Other sides of the setup include stations where you can play with the interactive games.

It's really set up for the uninformed as oppossed to us here, but it's still super cool to see this.

There is a handout explaining Blu-Ray and coupons for $10 off select Disney movies....buy 2 get $10 off.

I'm going to see if I can use the coupon at Best Buy tomorrow. That would mean with the current BOGO....$20 plus tax for 2. I'll report back on if it works or not.

Default YES! We have coupons! But no bananas.

Just got back. Spent 30-40 minutes at the booth, got stoked enough to go to BB & buy 4 more BDs on the BOGO sale. My wife and I saw movie clips there that convinced us to buy the movies, even though we previously decided not to. And one we'll rent.

Anyway, there are booklets there labeled "Blu-ray Today." Inside is a sheet of 3 coupons, good only at Best Buy, and all expiring 12/31/07. Also marked "Do Not Double":
-$10 off when buying two of POTC/BP; POTC/DMC; Dinosaur; Chicken Little; Invincible; Eight Below.
-Another $10 off when buying two of Pearl Harbor; Gone in 60 Seconds; King Arthur; G.I. Jane; Enemy of the State; Deja Vu.
-$100 off when buying a Panasonic Blu-ray player and a Panasonic plasma HDTV at $999 or more.

Earlier this week I read of people buying 10 BDs and I thought they were nuts to spend that kind of money. Well, now I've bought 10 BDs this week- in B&Ms, and more online. Just really hard to pass up 2 for 1. Not sure I'll see these kind of prices for another year or more.

P.S.- WOW! When I started typing this post, there were NO posts since WW coupon question. Now I'll have to go back and read!
