Talking Quentin Tarantino Wants to Make a Western

OMFG This would be amazing! Nobody does sensitive topics quite like QT. I am a diehard fan of his and will always see everything the guy makes, and being a huge western fan, this just sounds like it'd be a lot of fun to watch his take on it.

The NY Daily News caught up with Quentin Tarantino, who says he's interested in making a Western, but one that is a little different.

"I'd like to do a Western. But rather than set it in Texas, have it in slavery times. With that subject that everybody is afraid to deal with," Tarantino said. "Let's shine that light on ourselves. You could do a ponderous history lesson of slaves escaping on the Underground Railroad. Or, you could make a movie that would be exciting. Do it as an adventure. A spaghetti Western that takes place during that time. And I would call it 'A Southern.'"

Tarantino has previously mentioned he'd still like to do a third Kill Bill movie as well.

He has gone on record saying he would like to make a lot of different types of movies. Hell, he even said he would like to make a Friday the 13th movie 2 years back. We'll see what he actually does decide on directing next.

I'm up for this. I love spaghetti Western's and I love Tarantino movies. Come up with a great cast and this would be epic.

I think QT talks too much. Just hurry up and make something already. I'm still wondering what happened to that all Mandarin film idea.

And while we're waiting why don't you stinkin' release The Whole Bloody Affair already.

In a way, everything he has ever done is a Western to some degree.

But an actual, straight-up Western? That's something i'd pay to see.

straight up western yes! but honestly I'd be interested in any western he did. I think he could pull it off in this non-western decade we live in. The only 2 that were good were 3:10 To Yuma and The Assassination of Jesse James.

If QT did a western you better bet he would ask Brad Pitt. Which IMO would be sick!

Yeah I enjoyed it. The only thing I dislike about most westerns is that they all have the same story: a person owns some sort of property and somebody wants that property for expansion or some other use. It gets kind of old, thats why Im not to crazy about westerns. Now 3:10 to yuma and the assassination of Jesse James were the exception.

I tought that QT's Inglorious Basterds had sort of a western feeling, even thought it was a war film.

Um............Do you remember why they where transporting Russell Crowe in 3:10? It was so the bank wouldn't take Bale's land.........

Open Range and Appaloosa where far better films than 3:10. The original 3:10 was much better as well.

I have to disagree. Open Range was BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG. I just could NOT get into it. I tried but failed. Appaloosa was much better but 3:10 had a much better story, acting and action.

Open Range has the greatest gunfight in any western of the last 20 years easily. Now 3:10 to Yuma makes me slip into a coma everytime. I'm usually a big Bale fan, but he was horribly miscast.

I love Open Range. Can't wait for it to come on Blue-ray. It looks great just in DVD.

Die hard QT fans know how much Quentin loves Westerns. This has some potential and I hope he follows through.
