Default Best 'Retro' Sony Console, Whats your preference?

What system do you prefer? PSOne or the deuce?

I loved my PSOne and own over 100 games still for it. By far my favorite system even with the lack of internet, etc that todays systems have. I grew up without the net so its not a staple to me by any means.
I play the PS2, however my hard won battles were old skool

We all know the PS3 is a gimmie as the best so it was omitted from this poll for obvious reasons

No PS3 option = thread fail.

But of the two, obviously Ps2, full backwards compatibility and awesome games like the God of War series.

I forgot about Gran Turismo.....

The hours I spent on that game, building my car, etc....
One game I really like that persuaded me to get one was destruction derby...I loved that game (I like racing games, if you cant tell)

I...can't...decide! This is like asking a parent which child they love the most.

I have to give a slight edge to the PS2 though because of BC. My PS1 finally died and when I bought my PS2, I still bought PS1 games for quite a while.

I've enough games on both and enough fun filled memories that I simply can't name one over the other.

I like the poll icons tho: If a poll like this were conducted 20 years from now, logic would suggest for PS3 and for PS4.

I have to go with the original Playstation...If not for its greatness, we would not even be discussing the PS2 (or currently enjoying the PS3).

I would say PS2 because you had the ability to play all games on both systems with it. I will never forget the badass feeling when first playing the PS1, and the "amazing" graphics. The old school Resident Evil and Gran Turismo games were my favorites. I actually DL'ed REC off the PSN recently, wanting to bring myself back to the good old days of survival horror games. When I saw the graphics though.

Agreed. I loved what each brought to the table at the time, and as I look back at my gaming collection, both brought fond memories.

I did the same when the PS2 launched, when PS2 offerings were relatively slim. I had an extensive library of PS games (and a couple on the Dreamcast) to keep me preoccupied. Even though my PS2 library is substantially larger than my PS', I think I enjoyed the PS offerings just a tad more (I'm still kicking myself for never owning or playing Soul Blade or Final Fantasy VII In my defence though, I didn't purchase the original PlayStation until five years into its life cycle. The joy of being a broke college student )

Love 'em both but I had more fun with the original PSX. Gaming changed so much from the SNES to the PSX. 3D gaming was in it's infancy..everything was unknown and new.

Resident Evil 1-3, Final Fantasy VII, Xenogears, Tekken 1 & 2, Metal Gear Solid and Soul Blade were some of my favorites.

I still remember buying a PSX with Ridge Racer and Battle Arena Toshinden..I was 20.

It's been 15 years since the original PSX was released.. I would say that it is retro now..The PS2 is not retro really. It's still being made and new games are still being released.
