Of course the BRPlayers and the PS3 are going to be fairly expensive, but what about the games and the movies?

My thought:
1 blank CD = .50 to 1$
1 CD with Music or Game (1998) = 12 to 20$

1 blank DVD = 1$
1 DVD with Movie or Game (now) = 5 to 60$

1 blank BRD = 20$ for 25 Gigs
1 BRD with Movie or Game (when they come out) = ?$

My belief is that the movies that come out will be 50$ and games for the PS3 will be at least 50$ as well, according to my theory of super gay licencing jacking up prices with the new technology.

I may be stupid, and yes I will get a PS3. But if the games are way to expensive, then I just got a PS3! with no games until they are cheaper.
I just dont have that type of money working a 6$/hr job.

Please tell me that I am wrong truthfully and heal this pain of mine.

If you goto Amazon you can already see that their prices for Blu-ray movies ($20-$21 for catalog releases and $27-$28 for new releases) aren't too bad when compared to DVD movies:

While I have no idea how Sony will price PS3 games, I don't think they will cost more than Xbox 360 games. My guess would be $50-$60, but I don't really know.

As Marwin points out, the prices of Blu-ray movies is quite affordable. I also agree with him that the PS3 games will be priced $50-60 each.

Everything you have stated is correct, but your timelines are out.
BD movies have been anounced between from US$20
All prices below are Australian $ (100 cents = $1) but are a good relative comparison times are close approximates.
CD blanks 10 year ago $15 - $20 now 20 cents
DVD 4.7 GB $14 3 year ago now 35 cents
Expected 25GB price $$$ however they will drop rapidly.
Being an early adopter does carry a high price tag (it always has).

The closer the release comes the more I'm thinking of waiting for the second generation.

i already have re2 on dvd and new movies im going to wait and buy on high def. are probably ultraviolet and silent hill ect.

PS3 games will be $60 - $80. Blu-Ray Movies will be not more than a standard new release DVD, unless you go to some brick and mortar store that over prices them.

There is a lot of stuff coming out this fall. And you think you go it bad. I plan on geting Nintndo Wii for games, PS3 for Blu-Ray movies, and then there is my Anime addiction.
Even my 9.80 wage will not cut it.

i am still contemplating on PS3, because I have a feeling it's gona be like my PSP. Collecting dust. If only a Blu-Ray player came out for less than $300, then I would totaly forget about PS3.

That's MSRP. No one is going to even pay that and they don't have to.




You can to Amazon, BestPrices.com, deepdiscountdvd.com, DVDEmpire.com, and any number of other places and you're not seeing BD discs anywhere close to high prices like what you all are citing here.

It's not even close!

You can get most BD's for roughly the same prices as DVD's, by and large.

BB & CC have the highest prices on BD's and they don't even charge MSRP
