Default Some people are just stupid

I hate people that complain about traffic tickets when they have either illegal modifications or were clearly breaking the law.

I always hear stupid complaints "I got pulled over because of my tint" or "i got pulled over for no front license plate". NO SHIT SHERLOCK. Of course they pulled you over, you are breaking the law! Or people complain "I was only going 10 miles over the speed limit." THAT'S STILL SPEEDING DUMBASS.

Ugh...the nerve of some people.

What are your thoughts?

People complain about the smallest things when it comes to traffic citations. Well, most of the time they knew it's illegal.

My Rant is stupid Van Drivers... Dodge Caravans! I hate them with a passion. This is an everyday rant for me.

I've been pulled over 4 times, and 3 of them were somewhat BS. The first time I was ever pulled over was for an illegal U-turn. It was 11:00 at night and I pulled a U-turn in front of my high school. The school was in the middle of nowhere, and there were no cars other cars in the street. I'm fairly certain the cop actually pulled me over to make sure I wasn't drunk or causing trouble. Regardless, I got off with a warning. The second time I was pulled over was for illegal license plates. This one was completely not my fault. When I bought my car the dealer forgot to turn in the paperwork to switch the plates from my old car so when the state patrolman randomly decided to run my plates it showed up as the wrong plates. No ticket for that, but he did take the plates. The third time I got pulled over in a small town for going 5 over the speed limit. I think this was another case of making sure I wasn't drunk or the cop was just bored, and again, no ticket. The only time I was pulled over with good cause was for going 35 in a 25 zone, got a warning ticket for that.

Sorry for giving my entire life's encounters with traffic police. It was longer than I planned on.

I like how my buddy got pulled over for his stereo for disturbing the peace by the same cop that has a harley that is modded to the point you can hear it when it’s 12 blocks away!!!

No joke, I saw him pull out of the gas station and could hear him hammer on it as he got out of town which is 10-12 blocks up the hill.

A common saying regarding illegal mods in a car forum I frequent is "you gotta pay to play." People complaining about getting penalized for knowingly breaking the law should grow up.

Such hostility!

If people break the law then they deserve to get caught. Here in Canada, there's a law that businesses must provide rails for people to tie up their horses. As far as I know, it's never been stripped from the books, and last I saw, all the businesses I go to don't have railing for horses. I hope they're all rounded up!

And before the Canada jokes begin... :P America has some silly laws, too. In Massachusetts, it is illegal to take more than two baths a month within Boston confines. Or so I've read.

I haven't had a front license plate on any vehicle I have owned in 15 years........ That said, if I get a ticket for it, I'll just pay it..... so far so good though! (my thought is, if states like Michigan don't require it, then mine shouldn't either...... it's a sort of "Ghandi" approach of disobedience )

sometimes I think people have the right to complain if they feel or were actually abused by the officer.

I have permission from the DMV to have my windows tinted because of my eyes being sensitive to the bright lights. Got pulled over, the officer told me why he pulled over, I gave him the papers from the DMV he still ignored it and issued a ticket.

I went to court and the judge found me not guilty and dismissed the ticket.

I remember one time I turned right at an intersection but a cop flew through the red light and almost hit me. He slapped me with a citation but was nice enough to tell me about traffic school so it wouldn't go on my record.

I don't care much for the law. Every cop I've had any encounter with has chosen to be a d bag about whatever it was he pulled me over for. And I lost any respect I had for them when I heard that story in Dallas where that cop pulled that Cowboys player over who was driving to the hospital to see his mother-in-law for the last time and was just being a punk about it. I mean I don't want to pigeon-hole every cop in the world but I've never met one who wasn't stuck in that high school smug jockish mentality.

It was actually a player for the Texans, but I agree that cop was a real jerk. I've always found that if you're polite to the cop they'll treat you well, but maybe I've just been lucky to encounter nice cops.

Most of the time that's true, but not always.

I work in public safety so I know alot of cops. Most are Ok most of the time, even the a-holes. They're like that because they're tired of dealing with other a-holes so they treat most everyone the same way. Also keep in mind that when you get pulled over because you have tint that's too dark or a taillight out, all too often they're hoping to get something more serious on you. Don't give them such easy excuses to pull you over.

You sound like me. Oh yeah I have 35% tints too (illegal for driver and front passenger windows in California). If I ever get a ticket because of these mods (I hope not...knock on wood), I'll pay and move on.

I have a 35% tint on my vehicle as well (50% is state legal here); the only difference is that I received a ticket for it because the cop that pulled me over said that I was speeding, but he didn't get a proper reading (yes, he admitted this to me). Since he couldn't write me up for speeding, he figured he would find something, anything to write me up on.

I agree, to a point.

I suppose my contention is due to my displeasure with the police right now. Mainly the Utah Highway Patrol. However, if get pulled over for breaking the law, I deserve it. I've never tried to make an excuse. In fact one time I was pulled over for crossing the divider gore entering the freeway. I do this all the time when I'm stuck behind some moron trying to enter the freeway at 45MPH which is also against the law. I always look to make sure I'm clear before I do. Well, I should have checked my rear view this time, because there was a cop right behind me. He pulled me over and asked if I knew why. I told him I did and he was surprised I did and that I knew it was called a divider gore. Now, I personally would call entering the freeway at 45MPH more of a hazard than someone crossing the divider gore. Still, I broke the law and I deserve a ticket.

That leads to my issue with the police right now. There's a lot of pulling people over without regard to other laws. A good example was this last weekend. I was headed to my sister's house for dinner on Sunday. There was a U Haul box truck that was in the passing lane. He has no business being there. However, he also kept getting into the carpool lane as well, where he certainly doesn't belong. He also entered illegally crossing the double white. The add on the fact that he was going 85MPH in a 65MPH. Then to top it off, he slowed down at one point and I went to pass him. He decided he wanted back in the passing lane and just came over, no signal, and he damn near hit me. Then he proceeds to flip me off and blocks me from passing and starts weaving in and out of traffic. Now, two officers could have pulled him over but they were too busy pulling over speeders, the end of the month you know. In fact one of them pulled over the person right next to him.

Seriously?

Several years ago I got pulled over for not making a complete stop at a stop sign. I knew I was getting a ticket. I extended my arm to the officer and told him to please give me a ticket because I deserved it. I showed him my ticket from a year ago with the same offense. He looked at the ticket and pointed out the date, time and location of the offense from a year ago. We were both surprised because the date & location were exactly the same and the time was a few minutes off. He said to me,"You didn't learn your lesson did you?" I said nope. Then he gave me a warning and let me go. No ticket. I couldn't believe it. However, a couple years later I got pulled over again for the same offense in a different city, and a different car but this time the officer gave me a ticket.

I love these threads on law and order because when we start talking about the subject, we all suddenly get some religion and travel the streight and narrow. About five years or so ago, I went on an evening stroll with the lady to a 3-way intersection that had stop signs. Just for fun, we wanted to know how many actualy came to a complete stop. After 20 min, we got board and moved on. None of us recalled any car that stopped. I was supprised at how many just tapped the brakes and blew on by. Come to think of it, I don't remember comming to a full and complete stop in my car eather.
