Everything is fine, if you can tolerate the awful video transfer. The remastered edition will look far superior.

I'm glad I didn't buy it. Gladiator deserves to be an amazing title to own, imo.

You think they'll keep it a Sapphire release or a seperate 10th Anniversary edition?

I really hope this is true. I sold my Gladiator dvd a long time ago and had been really wanting to watch it again. I was so excited over the orignal Blu-ray until reading the reviews. I wont buy the current disc out of principle but i'll buy a remaster on Day 1.

So glad I held off on this title. I read the transfer was bad. Best Picture Winner or no Best Picture Winner, nobody should be buying a bad transfer for ANY FILM. This is Blu-ray! we demand the best!!!

With how bad the original release is (according to pretty much everyone), they should be doing a replacement program like they did with The Fifth Element. There's really no excuse for being so lazy and releasing such a crap transfer. I'm glad I held off on buying it.

Finally a good version. I'll probably pick it up used sometime down the road as I have the current one with a steel book, maybe just used at blockbuster or somewhere.

I fought off the temptation to buy it anyway all this time. Glad to see that holding off might be paying off.

Dam this is awesome news!
I won't sell my blu ray steelbook though, who cares i already paid full price and i'm not willing to sell it dirt cheap.
Us collector's shouldn't have a problem with having 2+editions of the same movie.AWESOME EFFING NEWS THOUGH!!!

I'm excited they're remastering it, but they should have done that before releasing that 9/1/09 crap.

The only reason Sony did a replacement program for The Fifth Element is because the format war was going on and the original release of that film was an embarrassment in public relations for them. Disney didn't bother offering a replacement program for Gangs of New York and I would be shocked if Paramount offers one for Gladiator. The transfer for Gangs was even worse than Gladiator.

Will wait to see if they'll do an exchange program before I decide what to do with the one I have, glad to see Paramount stepping up and handling this as well as they have.

do you REALLY think the studio would like to lose money by doing a replacement program?

its not the first time a program has been done. disney even did it with one of the pirates otc discs that MOST PEOPLE DIDNT EVEN NOTICE THE ERROR! so no they dont like to lose money but in order to make money on thier so called saphire series, they might make good.
