Here's what I did with mine. I'm normally a chill guy but I just couldn't stand how Best Buy screwed up the steel for my favorite films ever. I know it's a one-discer but I don't have any other plastic holders. I just display empty steelbooks anyway.

I guess I could take a stab at explaining that, since I love classic cars also. Believe it or not, there are some SteelBook Collector's that buy them for the sheer enjoyment of owning them, and they have almost no interest in it's future value. I'm not saying that they don't care completely, because I seriously doubt anyone would change up Iron Man or IAL. These fat SteelBooks, IMHO, do not seem too appealing to begin with, so all they are doing is making them look better, and to have them match up size wise with the rest of the SteelBooks we've all come to love. I also don't see these jumbo ones ever commanding any high prices like Iron Man or IAL. If they do, and I wind up modifying 3 LOTR SteelBooks, then I'll just have to live with the fact that I lost some potential money. No biggie, since I'm not buying SteelBooks to finance my retirement fund. I'd probably still be able to swap the covers back on the jumbo insert and re-create it later if I wanted to.

I actually disagree also with the whole rebuilding a classic analogy. We are not using an insert from another off brand (or another brand's engine if you will), we are using a SteelBook insert. I love a nicely done all original classic car, I'm a huge Mustang fan and have owned several different years of them (including a '67 coupe). While I love the classics in their original form and function, I love it more when it is done in a resto-mod sort of way. Taking a classic Mustang, and installing a newer Ford engine, newer 4-wheel disc brakes, a more advance suspension, and then putting on some much nicer rims and paint than stock can actually cause a Mustang to increase in value, or at least retain it's value, if it is done right. Now, if you know Mustangs, you would probably never modify an all original '67 Shelby GT500, unless it was done in a way that it could be put back together in it's original form fairly easily. So, as far as I see it, taking a big fugly jumbo SteelBook and customizing it to look better than it did before is the equivalent of taking a plain-jane classic, and customizing it to your liking. Some classics, i.e. Iron Man, IAL, Rambo, you just would not dare touch so severely 'cos they are just about perfect already.

The spine was excellent but the inner cover art with Mithrandir is what blew me away.

Looks great, but since it only holds one disc your should not have kept the "Motion Picture Trilogy" on there...

I guess he does not have a three disc inside plastic holder dings, so this would be no real big problem, just take one from a 3 disc Movie (empty Snow White?)

I understand that but it's like having an ugly and full 3 rooms appartement and move into a nice looking 1 room appartement, it doesn't make sense to me.

I don't have any dented 3 disc steelbooks and wouldn't have pulled that stunt for that matter.

Well at this moment I can't afford any decent 3-room apartment for the trilogy. Hopefully I find one soon. This was more an experiment than anything. You can see that the edges of the artwork are very nasty. Stupid Kinkos wouldn't help me with sticky lamination due to copyrights. I may come back later to see if I can get someone clueless to help me out.

James I was wondering if you can make a spine artwork for the whole trilogy instead of one for each individual film?

I second that request. What I am planning on doing is having 1 x 3-disc case holding the movie trilogy, and then a second 3-disc case holding the extra features. Thanks.
