Default Saddest dog death in a movie?

Old Yeller
I am Legend
Marley & Me
I have to go with I am Legend, Sam was all he had left in the world and he was forced to kill her after she got infected.

Sam....that was brutal.

Marley & me was also very tough. I had to hug my dog after that.

Ya, I Am Legend was pretty tough.

There's a Japanese movie called Quill that has a sad dog death. It's a natural death as far as I remember, but it's still sad nonetheless.

Fluke.

It has a few dog deaths along with other animals and humans.

My Dog Skip
Turner and Hooch
I Am Legend was pretty

In that order. My Dog Skip made me drop a tear or two. The build-up of the dog getting old was so sad

Turner and Hooch...Hooch was a badass but had a good heart.
Charlie from All Dogs Go to Heaven was pretty sad. I was a kid at the time.

I forgot about that as well. I had to read the book AND watch the movie.

Anybody else generally get more choked up or sad about a dog death in movies than a person dying?

Marley And Me is very sad and I cried as much when I read the book, but I think number one has to be Turner And Hooch and what makes it to the top is Tom Hanks breaking down. Just cannot bring myself to watch it again.

This is going to come across as mean but yes, probably because dogs tend to be nicer/better than most people.

I was thinking that but also that dogs (man's best friend) are so easy to relate to your own dog. My Dog Skip made me sad because I was thinking of my dog at the time even though it was a very different breed.
