Conan O’Brien's New Late Night Show

If you’re jonesing for more Conan O’Brien but can’t afford to buy (or even find) tickets to his 30-city Legally Prohibited from Being Funny tour, the good news is we might not have to wait long at all for Coco to be back on TV.

According to the L.A. Times, key Fox executives, including Rupert Murdoch, are keen to sign him up for his next late night gig, and hopefully in time to announce it when the network’s fall lineup is unveiled May 17. It’s not yet a done deal, however. Some issues that remain to be hashed out are just how much it might cost, how willing affiliates would be to give up sitcom reruns to latch on to this new venture, and whether it would launch in fall or January.

If I were a betting man, however, I’d certainly put my money on this happening, and very soon. The buzz from his almost completely sold out tour should be enough to hook Fox at whatever price it takes, and certainly many people will tune in to give him the chance to soundly kick Jay Leno’s sorry ass.


Conan O’Brien has just embarked on his 30-city Legally Prohibited from Being Funny tour, but most of the shows have already sold out or are coming close to it. If you’re not lucky enough to get a ticket, filmmaker Rodman Flender (Idle Hands), is about to sign on to make a feature film that centers on it. And if you’ve got a lot of money burning a hole in your pocket or are lucky enough to get your hands on a ticket through ticketmaster, here are the tour dates:

I like Conan much better than the other hosts, but I really do not see this show doing very well in the ratings against Letterman and Leno. He should feel free to do his "material" on Fox at least, that was obviously taken away when NBC moved him to 11:35.

What makes you think Conan would take that deal. If he wouldn't go on at 12:05 he's not gonna go on at 12:30 either. Hope they put him head to head with Leno.

His issue with the 12:05 slot was because it was The Tonight Show. It wont be The Tonight Show on Fox.

He says he felt the Tonight Show should be on at 11:35pm like it always has been for many years.

Putting him head to head against Leno AND Letterman would be ratings suicide. I'm sure Fox realizes this.

Andy Richter Joining Conan O’Brien’s Show on TBS

Late night talk show host Conan O’Brien and comedian Andy Richter have been working together intermittently since 1993. Though it had always been assumed that wherever Conan landed after leaving NBC in a huff, Richter wouldn’t be far behind. Well today TBS announce (via press release) that the longtime duo will be together again for Conan, the new late night show premiering on November 8th at 11/10c on TBS. Always making with the funny Richter said, “I’m thrilled to be going back to work with Conan, and very excited to start a whole new venture on TBS. However, I am mostly looking forward to getting out of the house again.” Conan followed suit by saying, “This decision was made without my authority. I will get to the bottom of this.” I know I can’t wait for Conan’s return with Andy at his side. How about you?

Jimmy Vivino and The Basic Cable Band will lead 'Conan'

Jimmy Vivino, former associate music director, guitarist and vocalist for The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien and Late Night with Conan O’Brien, will serve as O'Brien's bandleader for his new TBS series.

Jimmy Vivino and The Basic Cable Band will include Scott Healy (keyboards); Mike Merritt (bass); Mark Pender (trumpet); Richie “LaBamba” Rosenberg (trombone); Jerry Vivino (saxophone, woodwinds and vocals); and James Wormworth (drums).

Conan debuts Monday, Nov. 8, at 11 p.m.

Seth Rogen, Tom Hanks And Jon Hamm Among First Conan Guests

UPDATED: Conan's bookers may still be shooting for the Pope and Russian president Vladimir Putin for the first guest spot that is being determined by a fan poll but they went with Hollywood types for the rest of the appearances on the first week of the comedian's late-night TBS show. Here is Conan's first guest lineup:

Monday, Nov. 8 – Guest poll winner (this could turn out to be a joke as the choices include the Pope Putin and the current leader, the elusive Jack Nicholson), Seth Rogen and musical guest Jack White

Conan O’Brien Not Afraid of NBC; Plans on Using His Established Comedy Bits and Characters

Though the Conan O’Brien’s rough exit from NBC resulted in all the established characters and comedy bits from his tenure at the network being left behind as the network’s intellectual property, it sounds like the late night host fully intends to do exactly the opposite on Conan. The NY Post reports that an upcoming Rolling Stone interview has O’Brien confidently saying, “”If there’s something we did for a long time that we’ve established as ours, we’ll figure out a way to do it. I won’t be denied my Masturbating Bear!”

The jerk-off gesturing bear is just one of many bits that made Conan’s late night comedy great, and while NBC reserves the right to take O’Brien to court for violating their agreement, it doesn’t sound like he’s scared. In fact it sounds like he’s ready for a hilarious court battle over a bear pleasuring himself, “What I really wanna do is be sued over the bear and then appear in court with the Masturbating Bear. ‘Your Honor, this bear can’t help himself!’” I’d pay to see that case in court. We won’t have to wait too much longer to see what Conan has in store with his new late night talk show on TBS premiering on November 8th at 11/10c.
