Default Bad news about the successor to "Late Night with Conan O'Brien"

It seems that when Conan takes over for Leno, he will be replaced by Jimmy Fallon. I personally not a big fan of his, but what do u guys think

Bah, I won't even bother with Fallon.

I'll definitely keep watching Conan in his new gig, but I'm a bit apprehensive as to what will become of him personally, and his signature comic style, when placed in an earlier slot. The format will be different, who knows if any of his crew (band, writers, etc.) will follow him, and I'm afraid of the whole show becoming gradually homogenized and dumbed down to avoid being "offensive" or some crap like that.

Conan O'Brien replaced by -- of all people -- Jimmy Fallon. No thanks! I could barely stand watching Fallon in the movies "Fever Pitch" and "Taxi", let alone watching him on "Saturday Night Live"!

Nope!

Though I hardly stay up that late, I'll stick with Craig Ferguson. Personally, I've never overcome the loss of Johnny Carson on the Late Show...a true legend that neither Leno, Conan, Dave or Ferguson can hope to live up to. I also was really bummed when Craig Kilborn left the Late Late Show.

Late Night television has been overcome with gimmickry, in my opinion. Stupid skits, games, etc. It used to be ruled by short monologues, high quality guests and respectful interviews. Even Letterman was good when he was on NBC, but he's pretty much turned into an Eyesore (as Johnny Dangerously would say).

You all remember Thicke of the Night?

I agree, but I must admit he did have one of the funniest SNL skits ever with the first "Barry Gibb Talk Show", and his Dave Matthews impersonation was pretty funny but overall he was average at best.

What about Nick Burns: Computer Guy? That was some funny stuff. Although the biggest problem I have with Fallon is that he laughs at his own jokes. I don't see him faring well as a talk show host.

I think Conan is the best late night host ever and possibly the funniest person alive, but I wish he'd stay in his slot. I will watch faihfully wherever he goes cuz I have since the beginning but I too wonder how the show will change in an earlier slot. I think he'll be fine though. I am excited for it.

Pish posh and hogwash. It's a sad day when Leno retires and is replaced by Conan. But Conan replaced by Fallon, even worse... Ahh, what's the world coming to?

The end of late night. I used to enjoy Conan's monologue and skits, but hardly ever watch late night anymore.

Fallon? Wasn't he in that god awful movie with queen latifah?

I've never found Fallon to be funny, and the interviews I've seen of him don't lead me to think that he's going to bring anything special to late night. I see the show being cancelled within a year.

I think "Late Night with Jenna Jameson"! would be a Way Cooler Show! Even if its Only a "Talk Show" I think it would be cool.

It really won't matter because what makes LTWCO funny are the writers. The strike proved that, because his show turned into utter nonsense. Granted, he does have an irreverent personality, and is certainly one of the funniest people on TV, but honestly... if Conan goes to The Tonight Show... um... just watch The Tonight Show.

Maybe he'll take some of his writers with him...

I totally agree. There is little talent to be found in the wee hours and unfortunately, the once great David Letterman has evolved into a crotchety old man. It seems as though he has been on a downward spiral since his ill-fated appearance as host of the Oscars a number of years ago. He is rarely funny and his humor seems tainted by anger. Johnny Carson knew how to knock politicians and celebrities down a peg or two without being hateful. You never really knew where he stood politically. That is a line too many "comedians" are eager to cross these days. I haven't had a chance to watch much of Conan O'Brien the last couple of years but his humor and demeanor seem just right for the Tonight Show.

Fallon is a no talent whack-off... at least, as an actor he is. As a host he may not be so bad. When talking to a guest he'll be able to laugh all he wants without it seeming like he is ruining "the scene."

Whatever happens, they need to keep Conan in NYC, he doesn't fit in with LA.

NBC thinks differently though
