Conan O’Brien's New Late Night Show

If you’re jonesing for more Conan O’Brien but can’t afford to buy (or even find) tickets to his 30-city Legally Prohibited from Being Funny tour, the good news is we might not have to wait long at all for Coco to be back on TV.

According to the L.A. Times, key Fox executives, including Rupert Murdoch, are keen to sign him up for his next late night gig, and hopefully in time to announce it when the network’s fall lineup is unveiled May 17. It’s not yet a done deal, however. Some issues that remain to be hashed out are just how much it might cost, how willing affiliates would be to give up sitcom reruns to latch on to this new venture, and whether it would launch in fall or January.

If I were a betting man, however, I’d certainly put my money on this happening, and very soon. The buzz from his almost completely sold out tour should be enough to hook Fox at whatever price it takes, and certainly many people will tune in to give him the chance to soundly kick Jay Leno’s sorry ass.


Conan O’Brien has just embarked on his 30-city Legally Prohibited from Being Funny tour, but most of the shows have already sold out or are coming close to it. If you’re not lucky enough to get a ticket, filmmaker Rodman Flender (Idle Hands), is about to sign on to make a feature film that centers on it.
