I'm a huge PixelJunk Monsters fan, so this will give me an incentive to spend more time with Home.

Now, if only I could get a life-sized monster statue for my yard. It sure beats yard gnomes.

The PixelJunk Home spaces are up in Japan. You can get a free PJ Shooter tshirt from the little TGS space, other clothing (paid - tshirts, cool Tiki-man mask, Pine headphones, Bee shoes) from the main PixelJunk space already pictured.

The ESRB has rated 'Pixel Junk Racers 2nd Lap' for PS3

To which Dylan Cuthbert responds:

Quote:
no idea.. the ESRB always randomly rate randomly named games from randomly unnamed sources
https://twitter.com/dylancuthbert/status/9338395585

But I think there's a little more to it than that.

New Details: PixelJunk Racers 2nd Lap

Brings Racers closer to current PixelJunk spec with:
  • Trophies
  • Video Capture + YouTube Upload (and screenshot capture I assume)
  • Rebalancing OR easy difficulty added
  • Ghost Attack (race against recordings of other players' performances)
Doesn't mention remote play or custom soundtrack but they might be in there too.

Should be a cheap update, maybe 1 or $2 next month.

PixelJunk Shooter: more content being worked on!

'PixelJunk lifelike' visualizer for PS3 was teased at GDC.

PixelJunk Racers 2nd Lap Coming to PSN this Spring + PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe on UMD
Posted by Dylan Cuthbert // President and Executive Producer, Q-Games Ltd.

Well…what a great GDC we had. We spent most of our time in Sony’s Blogger’s Lounge previewing PixelJunk Racers 2nd Lap for the various press people who came around to visit. And I’m here to make it official and let everyone know that we will be releasing PixelJunk Racers 2nd Lap on the PlayStation Network this Spring.

So, to recap for those who haven’t seen the various blogged reports on it, PixelJunk Racers 2nd Lap is a bit of a fan service really – we went back to the original Racers and added Trophies, but we didn’t want to just stop there (just adding the bare minimum isn’t really what we do). So we added a whole new feature – ghost attack. What this does is record how you played whenever you register a new score on the high score tables, so anyone else in the world (including your friends of course) can play against you, trying to best your score.

On top of that we made the single-player tournament a little easier to complete, so you can open up the ghost attack and various party modes even more quickly (and of course gain those Trophies more easily too!).

Just to go on the record – this game *isn’t* really a racing game. It’s as much a racing game as, say, Rally-X was back in the day, really. It is a slot-car based arcade game with lots of fun, wacky modes and ideas in it, and as a result is excellent fun if you get a few people round. And if you can’t get a few people around, the ghost mode opens up a ton of competition with your friends on the ‘net.

Now that I’ve covered off on 2nd Lap, I’m also here to deliver more news to the PixelJunk fans out there. This Spring, we will also be making PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe available on UMD! So, for those of you who prefer to have a hard copy of one of your favorite games … you are in luck. The UMD version of PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe will be available at participating retail outlets beginning April 27 for $19.99.

For more information on the PixelJunk franchise, please check out our blog posts here and here. Continue to check back in with us for more information on 2nd Lap and everything PixelJunk here on the PS Blog!

Default News Letter #6 Is Live

In my inbox at 9:40am.. posted here to you guys 2 minutes later, here is News Letter #6, highlighting 2 details going on with PJ these days:

Quote:
             PixelJunk(TM) Newsletter #6

                 2010.4.16
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi there PJ fans,

We invade your inbox today with two simple messages of pure PixelJunk joy!

Today’s Topics:
- PixelJunk(TM) Monsters Deluxe (UMD edition) for PSP coming soon to US stores
- PixelJunk(TM) developers at GDC 2010

*** PixelJunk(TM) Monsters Deluxe (UMD edition) for PSP coming soon to US stores ***

PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe is on its way to US retail shelves in disc form! Arriving on April 27th, the disc release marks the first chance to buy a physical copy of PixelJunk Monsters in America, and it comes at the irresistible price of just $9.99.
Already hugely popular as a digital download from the PlayStation(TM) Store, PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe adds a towering list of new features to the already fiendishly addictive mix. Along with remixed stages from the PS3 originals, ‘Deluxe’ brings all new stages, towers, monsters, and even an online multiplayer mode so you can team up with friends near or far.
It’s the most feature packed version of PixelJunk Monsters available, and you can pre-order your copy right now!

*** PixelJunk(TM) developers at GDC 2010 ***

Two of our very own developers flew across the pond last month to share some PixelJunk magic with the masses, at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.
Jaymin Kessler, one of our resident tech programmers, detailed the technology that went into PixelJunk(TM) Shooter's famous fluid simulation in his talk "Go With The Flow". PixelJunk Eden's Baiyon teamed up with Naughty Dog's Richard Lemarchand to answer audience submitted questions in their discussion "Micro or Massive: It's Fricking Tough to Achieve a Vision".
Both talks were well received (Jaymin, especially, is basking in the glory of his new fan club).

The technically minded might like to take a look at the Q-Games blog for more on Jaymin's talk, including the slides from the presentation.
http://fumufumu.q-games.com/archives/000788.php

Baiyon fans might like to know that he was recently selected by Game Developer Magazine as one of ‘The Game Developer 50’(about which he was very pleased). You can view the online version of that article here: http://www.gamasutra.com/view/featur...veloper_50.php
