Corpse Bride was shot on a digital still camera.
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow I believe was shot on HD cameras (and much of it was rendered of course). Rodriguez likes HD and shot Sin City, Spy Kids sequels and Once Upon a Time in Mexico on HD. Also it was the tape format (HDCAM) that was limited to 1440x1080 I believe - not the cameras - HDCAM SR fixed that issue as well as allowing 4:4:4 colour iirc. Michael Mann seems to like HD also and shot Miami Vice and Collateral largely on HD as well as some of Ali. Other films include The Lady and the Duke ... or check this link |
