Default Red Riding Trilogy

Anyone know whether IFC Films will be releasing this on blu-ray? If not I will probably just order the UK dvd set.

I think Criterion has the distribution rights to all IFC films in the US. So ideally, Criterion will be giving these great films a royal treatment

There are out in Scandinavia on Blu-ray, but I assume you know this?

Yes but it'd be a lot easier to wait and get a US blu release. Criterion would of course be ideal but they don't release all IFC films.

Amazon is confirming the August 17 date for the Blu-ray with a pre-order!

Good price too, considering it's, you know, a trilogy.

If that's the entire trilogy (not just one part) I may have to pre-order it now! Only other info shown is Mpi Home video, 130 minutes, $24.49 (list 34.98).

However, a similar listing for the DVD is a few dollars less and 308 mins...so maybe it is the whole thing.

I am curious to know the dvd company that will release this if true, because usually IFC films have a Blockbuster rental period first before the film is for sale (for example all of the IFC/Criterion titles were rentals for almost half a year before Criterion released them).

With the recent prices on Amazon I figured it's better to pre-order and cancel then possibly get stuck paying more during a price hike. I've been waiting months to see these.

Think I am going to have to pre order it for this cheap price. Especially if it ends up being released by Criterion.

The Amazon pre order now reads Run Time: 368 minutes. So definetly all three movies. But only on 2 discs. Hopefully audio and video quality won't suffer.

Am I right in saying this will be released as a criterion disc? Does this mean this will be locked like the rest of their bloody titles, I don't have region free player so my order for this like Hunger will need cancelled then?

All this region coding with Blu ray's is pissing me off, it was easily sorted with DVD but with Blu it needs to be a hardware issue and I'm not getting the damn thing chipped.

Will have to upgrade my player at some point as this country has no idea when it comes to cult titles, it's lets release the blockbusters etc, Bad Boys for ****s sake!

Back up to $34.98, glad I pre-ordered! I'm sure it will dip again.

The current cover doesn't look like Criterion branding, though I really like the poster art.

Nice, so it may drop a bit lower by release date.

While I hope it turns out to be three discs, two would not be awful, considering 1974 and 1980 would be 205 minutes (3 hours and 35 minutes) on one BD-50 with 1983 and extras on the other BD-50. The Swedish releases are three separate BD-25s with no extras, so these could well be the same transfers, with two on one disc and one on another.

Are these movies any good? Is there something you could compare them to? I have never heard of them until recently.. Also is the dates when the films were made or when they were set?

They're great if you like police procedurals/murder mysteries, etc. They're based on 4 crime novels by David Peace, 1974, 1977, 1980 and 1983. The years refer to when they were set. For some reason, 1977 wasn't filmed.

Yeah, I did the pre order for this. Really good price and I've heard good buzz and the trailer looked solid. I love these types of films and this is cool and original idea to have it span different decades.
