Default Best cgi

What movie has THE best cgi? When I say best I mean most realistic. From what I can think of is the T-1000 in the Skynet Edition of T2 and Arnies face in Terminator Salvation. What is the best you've ever see ?

I was also really impressed with the job they did with Arnie in Terminator Salvation. I've also got to throw some cred to District 9.

I still think the Star Wars prequels featured incredible effects, remember all the clones were CGI, and looked very realistic, particular by the time of Sith. And it wasn't just the creatures, but all the different worlds we were introduced. Problem with Star Wars is most people can't get past Jar Jar Binks and discount the effects in the prequels, but they still stand up very well today - and even Jar Jar was an amazing technical achievement.

And for that matter, Jurassic Park - when you consider that it was so difficult to tell which scenes featured CGI dino's and which were Stan Winston's creations.

I know the actual movie itself was lackluster but 2012 had top notch CGI as well

Only one movie has ever truly impressed me and that was Final Fantasy: Spirits Within. I remember being absolutely blown away by it.

Generally I hate CGI. I much prefer animatronics, miniatures, even stop motion

I really liked Iron Man because it combined a bunch of different techniques and Stan Winston is a God to me - on the opposite end of greatness is Lucas

The very best CGI is always the cosmetic use of it (e.g. digital removal of cables holding Stallone to the cliff face in CLIFFHANGER); "setpiece" CGI is almost uniformly horrible and cartoony to me. The five examples below are, to me and in no particular order, the most transparent CGI setpieces ever created:

1. JURASSIC PARK/THE LOST WORLD (not so much JURASSIC PARK III, which still has very good CGI, but not as uniformly transparent as the Spielberg-directed ones)
2. The T-1000 in TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY
3. Aslan in the first two THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA
4. King Kong in Peter Jackson's KING KONG
5. Davey Jones in THE PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN sequels

I do think it is sad that it took nearly a decade-and-a-half before we started seeing again CGI as convincing as what's found in T2 and JURASSIC PARK...

have the people who are saying Jurassic Park watched it recently? im asking because the last time i saw it was on VHS years ago and obviously it was mindblowing when it came out but i had a feeling it wouldnt hold up nowadays, if it does thats awesome. i cant wait til it comes out on blu, im not watching it until it does. but T2 is definitely impressive for its vintage so i can see it working.

recent ones that come to mind are King Kong and Avatar obviously. i thought Incredible Hulk was great for the most part, in the scene on the college campus in the daylight he doesnt really look that convincing, but in the final fight in harlem he and abomination look amazing.

Extremely impressive in that CGI people finally seem to legimately be able to convey believable emotion but, otherwise, AVATAR looked as cartoony as everything else CGI. A major step forward in one regard, same ol', same ol' in every other...

Default Matrix cgi good?

I am considering buying the Matrix Set and i just recently watch the 3 of them and during the first Neo (many) smith fight it gets really bad. I subconciously grt switched over into thinking I'm watching an animated movie, then we get back to Reeves and Weaving goin at it, and I'm like OH YEAH REAL PEOPLE !
and I wanted to know If it's any better on the blurays
