"it's abysmal, it's kinda like watching a dvd sometimes" While other scenes "looks absolutely stunning" But that gets negated when EE and DNR gets apparent again, he's even harsher at rating the PQ, 1 to 2 stars out of 5 ![]() Last edited by Q?; 04-02-2010 at 02:33 PM. |

Well "Q" as i said in a previous post,i have looked at the Blu-ray and Dvd version of "Fellowship" and the Blu-ray is a lot better in terms of picture quality.
I watched both movies on my Pioneer BDP-09FD through my Infocus IN-82 on a 108" screen,for a fair comparison i upscaled the Dvd's to 1080p 24/fps. |

He seemed genuine enough to me considering all the examples he gives. It is just one opinion though and again how much these issues bother you or dont bother you is very subjective and depends on many factors. Its not like he is the ONLY one declaring FOTR to have overall bad PQ since many have declared this much that have seen these at this point. Everyone should view it and decide for themselves. Agreed. These issues can really be distracting for some and bring down the whole presentation......obviously this guy is in that camp and he is entitled to his opinion just like the rest of us.

I too have seen around 300 blu-ray's so is my opinion any more valid "Q" ?
Of course not,it's down to everyone's own opinion, and reviews by their nature are subjective. I can't however shake the feeling that this release is attracting some bad reviews not because of it's quality, but because it's not the edition people wanted. |

What about all the examples that show just the opposite? Those must be taken into account as well. and why in the hell do ANY of the shots look better on the HDTV broadcast (as far as fine detail is concerned)? ALL of the blu ray shots shold look better/more detailed but that is FAR from the case ![]() |

I just don't get it, Blu-ray.com has given it a bad score, Highdefdigest has also given a bad score, the dude in the youtube vid has given it a lower score. Everything points to a pretty low quality in terms of PQ, it's poor! |

Considering the VERY credible sources (both professional and consumer) that have reported and proved these issues, I strongly disagree. Also, if some of these people were doing as you say, why is the actual film and audio scoring so high in these same reviews that are trashing (rightfuly so IMO)the video? If anything were to get a low score for what you suspect to be the case for the low scores, dont you think it would be the actual film itself?? The issues are blatantly obvious, but if they bother you or not and/or if you can even spot them or not is a different matter all together. For those who are sensitive to this and/or know what to look for, this shit sucks to be blunt ![]() Not to mention Dave, Xylon, Eric (all of which are proven to be VERY credible), and other consumers............... Exactly which is why this is SO subjective. There are MANY factors (screen size, seating distance, general sensitivity, being experienced enough to see the issues in the first place, etc............) that can and will contribute to how much or how little this will bother you. The problem is there are NUMEROUS reports and reviews now that have found severe issues which is a HUGE red flag for those of us with bigger screens, closer seating distances and who are sensitive to these issues ![]() ![]() Last edited by Todd Smith; 04-02-2010 at 03:13 PM. |
