Default The games are region free correct?

Hi, I'm not a gammer so I'm asking for someone else. These games are region free aren't they?

As far as I know, they didn't lock the regions on the PS3 games, but it still complies to the PS1 and PS2 region locks.

However, I have seen a region 1 insignia on the packaging of BD games... very odd.

All BD game discs are and have been region-free. It's stated policy on Sony's part, though I believe developers have the option to region lock if they so choose (none have, though, for obvious reasons).

All the information I have seen states that PS3 games are not region locked, but movies stick to the region coding. So if you have a region 1 DVD and a region 2 PS3, you are out of luck. Same with Blu-ray, if you have a region A Blu with a region B PS3, again out of luck. And as other posters have said, PS1 and PS2 games are region locked.

On a side note the PSP is the same way. UMD movies are region coded but games are not. Sony wanted to make it so if you were traveling abroad and saw a game you wanted on your PSP that you could pick it up and play it no problem.

I've bought games and movies in Canada and haven't had any problem playing them in a euro spec PS3.

Hey Zyclone,

I'm also from Australia and have been looking for a good place to import PS3 games from the States, where did you import yours from and how was the service i.e: shipping cost/speed, reliabilty etc.

Thanks in advance mate!

hey mate , always happy to see another aussie on the board

i ordered mine off amazon.com , i've ordered dvds , cds , books , hi def movies from amazon and iv'e always been happy with the service , they are reliable , prices are good (even if you pay basic shipping you get it in a week)

the only problem is alot of their games mainly the newer ones they don't ship outside of america.

i do know of aussie site (www.dvdcrave.com) they sell games earlier then the aussie street date because they import them.

iv'e never used them though so i can't tell how good they are.

hope this helps take care.

Thanks Zyclone, I'll check out dvdcrave. There's a nice little Aussie community on this board!

I've looked at Amazon before for games (i've ordered hundreds of DVDs and books and about 40 Blus from them) and have always lamented the fact that they don't ship games overseas.

If any Aussies ever turn up a good PS3 game exporter be sure to post it here as I will if I have any luck.
