My HDMI cable is made by "Monster"...but I got it really cheap (under £20).
![]() That said, I think it is wise to pay a "fair/decent" amount of money for any cables to insure that you get decent build quality (would never touch cheap scart leads when I used them). |

Thanks, I advised a friend about thhis while TV shopping at PC Richard and the salesman told me I was wrong and gave this big speech why people should buy Monster cables. I told my friend that the Belkin cables for $9.99 were just as good and luckily he listened but the show this guy put on was unbelievable now I know why.

One that works. Most people don't buy into overpriced cable propaganda. There have been several threads on this matter already. Tests have been done using high tech testing equipment that has determined that you get the same digital image from a $2 HDMI cable as you will a $400 Monster cable. I will say that its obvious that the higher priced cables are constructed of better materials but they don't perform any better. Most people in the forum use Monoprice or Bluejeans cables. Just my two cents. I use Monoprice cables and they work flawlessly.

I pay a little extra and get the better built cables. Nothing as extreme as hundreds of dollars a cable , around the 40.00 per cable range.
Here is a link to some well built, cheap cables: http://zebracables.com/hdmi.html So I don't end up with crap like this: ![]() ![]() Last edited by CasualKiller; 04-17-2010 at 09:25 PM. |

If they don't continue, plug that cable back into the BD player, than test the two HDMI cables (HD source-to-AVR and AVR-to-TV) by running them from the HD source directly to your TV. If the dropouts continue with either of them, that cable is bad; if not, the AVR is bad. As far as where to go, I agree with Canada; all but one of my HDMI cables are from Monoprice. The only other place I'd recommend is Blue Jeans Cable if you need top-quality wire for extremely long runs (over 50 feet) and/or in-wall cabling, the only cases where wire quality is a significant issue. (Monoprice's handling of its data breach has been first-rate, but if you're still concerned about it use PayPal; Blue Jeans Cable uses only PayPal.) Last edited by RBBrittain; 04-17-2010 at 10:00 PM. I ordered mine from a company called abacus24-7.com through Amazon about 3 years ago. I ordered ten of them for $1.09 each. The only down side was the shipping. The cables were $10.90 and shipping was $28.30.

I have some just like this that work perfectly: http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Premium-1-3-...#ht_1204wt_898
As others have said, the only advantage of paying more is better build quality. |
